For Thompson, Delay Is Costly Money, Support Head To Declared Candidates In Run for White House By CHRISTOPHER COOPER April 9, 2007
WASHINGTON -- If Fred Thompson decides to run for president, he will have some powerful supporters: The self-described "Tennessee Mafia," a group of Republican politicians from his home state well-versed in the craft of national campaigns. What the actor and former senator may lack is the financial juice that fired the group for more than a quarter century, driving local and national campaigns with astonishing amounts of cash.
"Mafia" members include Howard Baker, a former Republican senator, ambassador and White House chief of staff, who himself ran for president in 1980; Sen. Lamar Alexander, a former two-term Tennessee governor who ran for president in 1996 and 2000; and Bill Frist, the former Senate Republican majority leader, who considered, then rejected his own run for the White House for 2008.
Egged on by a campaign to draft him and buoyed by polls that suggest he would be a serious contender even though he hasn't declared, the conservative and blunt-spoken Mr. Thompson has said he is considering jumping in and may make a decision as early as next month. But in a presidential campaign that is likely to be the most expensive yet -- three candidates have already banked over $20 million in donations -- dithering would seem to be a liability.
Mr. Thompson's deliberations have already cost him a natural ally. Ted Welch, a wealthy Nashville businessman with an uncanny knack for raising political cash, has long been the go-to guy for Republicans seeking the highest office.

I actually read a post here a few weeks ago saying how strong he was in Red October and that proved he would be an excellent POTUS. People who cannot separate fact from fiction scare me more than anything.

Baaaaaaahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!
Now THAT is The Most Ridiculous Item of The Day!!
Rich Lowery- who just a few short weeks ago said a Thompson run would NEVER happen...says this morning:
Fred Thompson [Rich Lowry]
Now, the odds seem to strongly favor him getting in. If I had to bet, I’d say he does it.

If Fred is going to run, he needs to make that decision and get on with it. I’d seriously consider supporting him in a big way, but can’t do that until he declares.
everyone persuaded by the betting money moving to fred : ) guess the gamblers DO know their odds.
Thompson wants to return it the states, which would mean getting rid of roe v wade. That’s good. That’s what the constitution calls for.
Now if you want to talk pro life, rudy is 100% rated by NARAL, and Fred Thompson is 0% rated.
Trying to paint thompson as some sort of abortion defender to bolster rudy is laughable.
I've only noticed the Rudy people desperately reaching for things to smear Fred with.
you know full well how the media operates, that question won’t even be raised about Hillary or Obama.
and how do you know he didn’t? have you seen the list of babes Thompson was linked to before marrying his current wife? How do we know for sure he was faithful to his first wife? Rudy had the distinct disadvantage of having the entire NYC media following him around to expose him, and a wife who was all too happy to talk to the media to advance her own “celebrity” career. That’s why we know about his marital problems.
I can know with pretty high degree of certainty, because I live in THE SMALL TOWN OF TENNESSEE.
It would be all over the grapevines if Fred had even looked at another woman.
As far as, the list of women he dated, Fred was not married for a ton of years between wives.
