Democrats Remain in Front (GOP Nation map shows red states turning blue.)
GOP Nation Blog ^ | April 4, 2007

Posted on 04/05/2007 5:29:36 PM PDT by no dems

Our latest electoral college map shows that regardless of candidate, if the election were held today, a Democrat would be elected to the nation’s highest office. Red states that would flip include: Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Missouri, Iowa, Arkansas, Ohio and West Virginia. No Blue state would become red. The count would be: Democrats, 306, Republicans 232.

That could be the scenario no matter who we nominate.

Rudy would be far superior to Hillary

How are Rudy and Hillary different? They're not!

Rudy is Hillary in a man's suit.

not from mexico, but the southwest is an area of hispanic american population growth. and if you look at the way their votes are moving, its not a good trend for republicans.

Fair enough.

I’ve said in the past that the best candidate would be Jeb Bush, but he’s in the wrong family for 2008.

The idea of Hillary and Nancy in charge in 2009 just makes me sick.

I’m on the ground here in Nevada. Dubya would get smashed so bad if the election were now, it wouldn’t even be funny.

No, however, it seems that the majority of “transplants” that I have met are Dems. Of course, this isn’t just from California...a lot of people from NY are moving here (at least more that I have seen before)...suffice it to say that it isn’t just because this state is half mexican, it is because it is being invaded by city dwellers.

I have strong pro-life relatives who are sorry they voted for Bush. They originally supported the war, too.

There's a lot more people out there who are dissatisfied with the pubs.

Pubs are going to take a beating. sigh

As for me, I'm a conservative. I don't even call myself a Republican any more...just conservative.

Do you really think “lack of experience” would be a plausible strategy for the Dems against Thompson? None of the Democrat frontrunners have as much as experience as he does.

Maybe if Algore jumps in, he could make that argument.

But really, if that’s the best they have in their arsenal and the only “dirt” is he has a “hot, young” wife, I feel sorry for them.

I agree. Which is why amnesty is political suicide for the Republican Party.

You didn’t respond to my point. Wilson won on a strong anti-illegal immigration campaign. Immediately thereafter the Dem’s and the media launched a withering assault tarring all Republicans as racists. Result: There are currently NO high-level statewide elected Republicans and this has been true ever since the above referenced election!

Yeah but the Dems couldn’t win that one at the ballot box; they had to run to the courts.

Frankly I believe our chances are less than 50-50 no matter who we nominate. Rudy IMHO gives us our best chance, but Republicans are not popular these days.

Hopefully the ‘rats will continue to overplay their hand and mess up their chances.

Was there an ad in this story to send money to the Reps?

How so? I understand the SW pretty well, considering I am from NM, which has always been pretty split down the middle, and not along white and hispanic populations in terms of voting. However, the majority of population growth in the cities of NM is from non-hispanic populations, specifically from California, but also from NY and other points east. They come here because they can buy a huge house for relatively cheap and retire here, but they bring their voting habits with them and are what will potentially turn the state blue.

If you have ever been to miami, yes it is a third world city.

There are minimall shops that can be seen in any carribean island. There ARE some nice areas. Just like any third world country. YOU DO NOT want to be in downtown miami at night. In fact the miami arena had to have extra police security lining the roads to the highways.
