The problem that keeps tripping Romney up is his credibility gap. After the Kerry “Can Ah git me a huntin’ license here” fiasco, you would think that any politician who does not have a hunting background would stay away from the issue. Running as a conservative after compiling a basically liberal public record is difficult to begin with, but this gaffe, like others Romney has made (reaction to Ann Coulter’s “fag” remarks, for example), make him seem like another sleazy politician and a faux conservative. I do not like Giuliani, but at least he does not pretend to be something he is not, i.e., a conservative. Romney may have the money to play in the big leagues, but he lacks the skills.

I agree. Rather than actually being conservative, Romney is trying to act how he thinks a conservative would act.
I’m pretty damned libertarian for the most part, but my libertarianism tilts way to the right - and it cracks me up to see these guys try to fake it.
Point taken regarding Rudy G, as well. Not a fan, but he is who and what he is - take it or leave it.
