The push to get Gore to run heats up (The Draft Al Gore for Pres. Movement)
Boston Globe ^ | April 4, 2007 | Scot Lehigh

They've found their candidate.

They've got volunteers.

They've put up a website. Several of them, in fact.

They are raising money for ads.

Signatures are pouring in. Across the country, meetup groups are said to be, well, meeting up.

They are the faithful trying to lure Al Gore into the presidential race, the people behind sites like DraftGore.com and Mass4Gore.com.

Things are going well, they aver -- at least as far as they can tell.

How big is the effort? Hard to say.

"We have 12,000 or so on our signup list," says Monica Friedlander, an Oakland, Calif., communications manager who works regularly on the effort.

Interest surges each time Gore makes it into the headlines in a big way.

He's done that twice recently, first in February, when "An Inconvenient Truth," the documentary about Gore's long efforts to spur the country to action against global warming , took home an Oscar. Last month, he made national news when he urged Congress to address the issue.

"The traffic picked up tremendously in the weeks before and after the Oscars, and it spiked in a very similar way after his Congressional testimony," says Friedlander.

Certainly the petition the group has posted is also attracting more and more signatories. Its message is pithily summed up in the first few lines: "Dear Vice President Gore: Americans from every corner of our nation are calling on you. Please listen to our plea and run for the Democratic nomination for the presidency of the United States in 2008."

"We were at 25,000 sometime in January," Friedlander says. "Now we are at 64,000. We hope in another couple of months to hit 100,000 and hopefully take it to a tipping point where it starts growing fast by itself."

In pursuit of that tipping point, the group

Hillary is behind this. She and Slick are putting their puppets to work whispering in the Gorebot's ear.

If Gore runs, he takes votes from Obama not from Hillary.

Hillary's biggest competitor is her own high negatives -- so she has to split the "anybody but Hillary" vote. If Hillary beats Obama, she can squash Gore like a bug.

Al Gore hasn’t got a ghost of a chance even though he sounds gay.. He has that sissy queer sound to his voice..

He also has Tipper and two daughters out of her. Think Tipper would stick around if the Gorebot had a little secret? She's a real woman, remember, not a Ter-AYY-za.

IMO,The only way Algore will run for Pres. is if he strikes a deal with Hillary to end up supporting her.

Gore as head of the EPA is a probable deal maker and a position where he can cause the most Global Warming havoc to our economy.

That King Air carried Paul Wellstone and his entourage into Eternity, so getting Al’s fat azz into it should be no problem [as the Hillary campaign makes notes...lol].

My dream scenario is to see Gore take the rat nomination from Hillary, and then see Hillary start a third party run.

There would be blood on the liberal streets.

Yes, Algore for president and Rosie O’Doughnut for veep. He’s smarter than Hussein Obama and she’s cuter than Hillary. How could they possibly lose?

American women are glaringly dumb enough to want Hitlery as president BUT NOT DUMB enough to want Al Gore.

During the 2000 campaign, I heard a woman call in to a talk radio show. She thought Gore was just so handsome and so sexy! I couldn't believe it -- I could see a liberal voting for him because he's left-wing. But "handsome"? "Sexy"?

There are some strange people out there . . . hopefully only a few as strange as this woman, but you never know!

Excuse me?? Many American women are glaringly brilliant enough to be willing to crawl through broken glass to vote against either one of them.

Tell me this wouldn’t be funny.

Al Gore wins and nominates Hillary to SCOTUS when Stevens or Ginsburg retires.

What would be even funnier is Al Gore is elected and the first thing he does is have his new AG bring subpeonas to the Clintons.

Even funnier?

Al Gore gets Ken Starr to agree to be his AG.

I won’t wear any such shoe as it doesn’t apply to me or to many other American women. Do you always paint entire segments of the population with such a broad brush?

Many American men will vote for Hillary or even Obama. But not all, for heaven’s sake.
