In California, Clinton Leads While Edwards Surges (Giuliani Leads Republicans - Survey USA Poll)
Political Wire ^ | 4/3/07

A new SurveyUSA poll in California finds Sen. Hillary Clinton leading the Democratic presidential race with 43%, followed by Sen. Barack Obama at 26% and John Edwards at 17%.

Compared to an identical tracking poll 4 weeks ago, Clinton is effectively unchanged, Obama is down 5 points, Edwards is up 7 points.

Key findings: "Clinton's lead comes entirely from women, where today she is 30 points ahead of Obama... Among men, Obama and Clinton are tied."

On the Republican side, Rudy Giuliani leads with 43%, followed by Sen. John McCain at 24%, Newt Gingrich at 10% and Mitt Romney at 7%. These numbers are essentially unchanged from last month's survey.

There is only so many times he can keep using the Cancer-Card.

Edwards wrapped up the 2004 election with the Cancer-Card, then he whipped out the Cancer-Card just before the 1st Quarter was up this year to rake in some fast donations and get some free TV publicity. There is only so many times he can keep using the Cancer-Card - like the boy screaming Fire in the movie theatre, but if she dies before November of 2008 then he might use her death as a huge publicity stunt to push for more tax money going to healthcare and cancer research, his whole campaign right now is running on the fact that his wife has cancer, it’s the only reason he got on 60 Minutes last week.

I think within a few months people will get sick of his Cancer-card, just like we got sick of the Two-Americas talking point last time, and then his campaign will sink, Edwards may have already peaked.

That is one reason why Hillary will win. Edwards just doesn’t have the money or the votes no matter how he plays it.

I don’t think Hil will be the nominee, the Democrats have this fascination with nominating what they see as “Electable Liberals”, and to them Edwards is it. And it is still the Clinton party, but it is the BILL Clinton party, and Johny boy is far closer to what Bill was then Hillary ever is. Besides they see Hillary as too “conservative” and having too much baggage. I will bet $50 bucks here and now that Hillary will not be the nominee, and another 50 that edwards is either heading the ticket or their VEEP choice again.

I think the gentleman needs to declare his intentions to run, then he will be included in these polls.

All I’m saying is a poll that does not include him is inherently flawed. If you choose to believe they’re an accurate reflection of public opinion, knock yourself out.

I think a lot will depend on the debates. I also think the first series of dem and Repub debates will have huge television audiences.

“....I do not view any poll who excludes Thompson as credible.....”

Thompson hasn’t even officially entered the race yet. He’s probably figured into the “other” category. If he declares, he’ll probably get a bump but will not catch up with Rudy, IMO.

“...Are you a betting women KATIE-O?...”

I won’t bet the homestead, but I think Rudy’s time has come and he’ll be the next POTUS. Fred needs to learn how to SMILE, for gosh sakes. He looks so old and grumpy.

From deeper down in the Survey USA website

-Giuliani leads McCain among Pro-Choice voters, and among Pro-Life voters, McCain runs 3rd behind Giuliani and Gingrich; Giuliani leads among both those who support and those who oppose same-sex marriage; Giuliani leads among those who are for stem-cell research and those against it; Giuliani leads among those who own guns and those who don't; Giuliani leads among those who think global warming is real and among those who think global warming is made-up; Giuliani leads McCain 2:1 among Conservatives, where McCain runs 3rd to Gingrich; Giuliani leads McCain by 20 points among Moderates. McCain, from the neighboring state of Arizona, does not get above 26% in any age group nor in any region of California.

Unless Rudy throws-up all over hisownself - He'll take Cal.

Now, I saw where someone got a warning for posting spam. Is this a spam post? Cut and paste from already posted articles?

Don’t think so but if he does win the nomination, he’ll get my vote. He doesn’t have the experience, IMO, or the fire in the belly. He has a very young child for such a demanding job. Rudy has what it takes to win. He has name recognition, a tried and true track record and the favorability rating of the majority of Americans. And, something called “charisma.” And a great sense of humor in spite of being a tough guy with an attitude. My money is on Rudy. What’s your bet? :)

Personally I don’t want someone who’s only quest in life is to be President. If you want to see charisma watch this:

John Edwards made a career of obtaining personal gain off of other people’s suffering...however, I thought stooping to use his own wife was too low for even him to go. Apparently, I was wrong.
