You and I do agree that people have the right to choose where they live and if that includes HOA rules being involved, that’s fine by me as well. Where we disagree is that in a situation such as this, I believe it would be more productive and compassionate if the HOA would not have filed a lawsuit when these people who are obviously trying to do the best they can right now to sell their home and move.
I wouldn’t live where stringent rules were placed on my freedoms either. :)
You need to understand the legalities involved, if they don’t move to enforce it it becomes moot. Tell me how you want to deal with that, and quit with your lovey dovey perspective. This HMA didn’t have any choice but to act.
The HOA has to file a lawsuit or risk losing the rule altogether. They allowed the little girl to be there for 3 years, perhaps in an effort to be undestanding, and that already may leave them on shaky ground, legally.
Certainly, I feel for these grandparents. But let's remember, they were all for not having any children around until it came to THEIR grandchild. They put their housing situation at risk in the hopes that a druggie daughter would turn her life around and made no alternative plans.
This reminds me of New Orleans residents, sitting on their butts, confident that the world would save them, somehow.
