The Woman of Whitewater

The Woman of Whitewater

Susan McDougal, the bit player of the Clinton-era Whitewater scandal, is making a comeback. We hear that Hollywood producers are looking at making a story of her life. You remember her: She was the young woman once married to scandal figure Jim McDougal who went to jail for 18 months instead of testifying. Moviemakers like Paul Haggis of Oscar winners Crash and Million Dollar Baby were in Little Rock last week scouting locations, and word is that Charlize Theron is their McDougal choice.

Will this film mention the appearance she made on Primetime Live just after her conviction in which she told the interviewer that she just might have info on Hillary that could prove harmful to her?

Really? When was that aired? If that's true, let's find out if the filmmakers are Hillary supporters. Sounds like a backhanded bribe, if so.

So the Hollywood version of her life, starring glamorous Charlize, will keep her trap shut?

And still no film about Monicagate. A story with sex, power and politics, involving the president of the United States, but Hollywood isn't interested. Curious!

I think that that would be a reasonable assumption on your part. But then the *real* Susan MacDougal wound up keeping her mouth shut...very probably because someone made her an offer she couldn't (as in,dared not) refuse.

I'm no fan of Susan McDougal, and I think she was definitely covering up the Clintons' malfeasance, whether out of loyalty or fear. But I also think that sending her to jail for 18 months for refusing to testify was one of Ken Starr's worst PR blunders. He turned her into a martyr and made himself look like an out-of-control Inspector Javert. It might have been within his power to do it, but Americans don't take well to the idea of locking citizens in jail for a year and a half without a trial, just to force them to talk. It did more to help rally the Clintonites than it did to harm the Clintons, and now here it comes again in glittery, dramatic form via Hollywood. And what do you bet it will be released just in time for the 2008 election, to remind us all of how eeeeeeeevil the Republicans are and how unfair they were to poor, innocent Hillary?

Yes, that is beyond curious...... it shows yet again the staggering extent of bias in leftists everywhere, and especially among Hollyweird dingbats. Monicagate features the President of the world's lone superpower getting "serviced" in the Oval Office while blundering his way through international crises, pre-9/11 intel bungling, and a whole host of other juicy subjects. It would be a far livelier story than any of the pc-crap that Hollywood loves to present in "West Wing" and "The American President" etc. yet nothing gets made on Monicagate. Hollyweird producers and execs just won't touch it. Now why is that?

No matter how much spin they put on it, I don't see how dredging up Whitewater is going to help the clintons very much. I should think they'd rather bury it. And the press is very good at that.

Let them drag it up again let them whitewash it doesn't matter it will be a money loser. Who in the hell wants to be entertained by a story like that one? Believe me I read everything I could get my hands on about Whitewater hoping against hope to see them leave the Whitehouse early and the plot was boring boring boring...

Correct and how much are they paying her to continue to keep her mouth shut and perhaps stay alive?
