She says she does it to help her fight her severe depression.
9/11 affected me deeply, as I know it did many Americans. The falling of the twin towers served to remind me that many of the assumptions Americans have about their lives are rooted in false feelings of security. In light of this reminder, I have begun doing exactly what this country, at its best, allows for me to do: inquire. Investigate. America is great in so many ways, one of which is the freedom to speak, and indeed think, freely. I have, of late, begun exercising the rights bestowed upon me by the democratic system I value, and the exercising of these rights has taken the form of an inquiry into what happened five years ago, an inquiry that resists the dominant explanations and that dares to entertain ideas that push me to the edge of what is bearable. I have come to no conclusions and, given the scope of the subject, will not for some time.
If the very act of asking is so destabilizing for people, than I have to wonder whether the fabric of our democracy is indeed so raveled it is beyond salvage. My own belief is that the act of asking is itself reparative, because it brings to life the values on which our constitution rests. I am, therefore, pledging my allegiance, hand over heart, trying, as always, for a rigorous truth.”
OK Rosie, here goes:
Perhaps your research was more in-depth than mine, since I spent about 15 minutes on mine. FEMA concluded that the collapse was caused by fire damage alone. This might support a conspiracy theory since “The report noted that, before this collapse, there had been little, if any, record of the fire-induced collapse of a large fire-protected steel building, such as 7 WTC.”
Unfortunately for the conspiracy nuts, a three-year study by the NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) seems to explain the collapse without the need for a demolition team.
This report is being prepared with the help of experts from the American Society of Civil Engineers (founded 1852), the Society of Fire Prevention Engineers (founded 1950), The National Fire Prevention Association (founded 1896), The American Institute of Steel Construction (founded 1921), the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (founded 1969) and the Structural Engineers Association of NY (founded 1930). Their interim report detailed a 10-story gash that existed on the south facade, extending a third of the way across the face of the building and approximately a quarter of the way into the interior caused by falling debris from the other two buildings. A combination of this damage and damage from the fire in WTC-7 is said to account for the structures collapse.
Let us examine the conspiracy theory versus that of the NIST report.
One scenario says that debris from the collapsing towers hit WTC-7 with the force of a volcanic eruption. Burning debris from the collapse of the towers caused severe structural damage to WTC-7, which along with the damage from fires that started from the flaming debris, weakened the structure causing it to collapse. This scenario is put forth by a group of highly trained civil and structural engineers carefully examining evidence.
The other theory really needs one to believe in a Federal Government conspiracy of enormous proportions. Aside from the idea that the experts from the long list of professional associations above would help to cover up this conspiracy, to accept it you have to believe that demolition experts had already put in place explosive charges prior to the airplanes hitting the towers. “Controlled demolition” put forward by conspiracy theorists, requires advance preparations. I guess they were waiting to set them off until after the first two towers had collapsed. Or perhaps it was just a coincidence... the government was planning on destroying WTC-7 to further their nefarious plots, but just happened to pick the day when a bunch of jihadists happened to destroy the other two towers. They did this with no apparent explosions occurring. Their motive was to get us into a war with Iraq, the destruction of the first two towers obviously not being sufficient to piss off the American people, it was neccessary to blow up WTC-7 (with no loss of life... oh, the structural damage). This theory is put forward by a bunch of nut-hat Bush-haters.
The whole idea here is enormously stupid. It boggles the mind.
People hear these theories and often give little thought to how hard it would be to hush up something of this magnitude. Especially in an administration that is so bad at deceit that they don’t even know that the correct answer to a prosecutor on a fishing expedition is “I have no clear recollection.” As I said, the stupidity boggles the mind
that would be just about the funiest thing ever. rosie would be begging for mercy after one show
FREEP THIS POLL ***PING!*** FRmail me if you want to be added or removed from the Fearless Poll-Freeping Freepers Ping list. And be sure to ping me to any polls that need Freepin', if I miss them. (looks like a medium volume list) (gordongekko909, founder of the pinglist, stays on the list until his ghost signs up for the list)
If FOX didn’t make a big deal out of Rosie, I wouldn’t even know anything about her crappy show. Who even watches it?
“I’m torn between getting rid if the loon or letting her continue to parade her madness in public.”
I know! I know! It’s part of the VRWC. Use the Trump/Rosie thing to throw attention on Rosie. Then when people are finally watching her, point out everyday how retarded she is.
What did I win?
I think her “contract” was only until school let out for the summer. She probably feels she can say whatever she wants and keep her job ‘till then. I sure hope they don’t bring her back.
I had no idea that the proclivity to wear sensible shoes could have such an adverse effect on mental stability.
lol!
An MTV reject that I couldn’t watch then. Just a mouth. Would be nice if she would take the time to discover what is really going on by reading up on a subject...and I don’t mean the NY Times.
Give it a shot Rosie.
It’s sad, really. The woman obviously is crying out for help and there is not a single person in the world who cares enough for her to do anything about it.
You mean that all the steel that I'm using wasn't brought by the steel fairy?
Geez, the ignorance of some people.
You're absolutely correct. There are plenty enough people that stood up and yelled "BS" at her rant (although, not at the show, which is where it needed to happen). IMHO, those that agreed with her, would've agreed with her anyway becasue they're either too dumb, or too sheeplike, to do anything else.
Fire doesn't melt steel? Idiocy.
And, I'm surprised that you mentioned that gravity worked, even in lower Manhattan. I mean, everyone who is anyone lives in Manhattan. Surely, they can repeal that silly law. lol!
c) It's an entertainment show, so is she pulling in the ratings?
"Free Speech" is a red herring. No one, including O'Donnell, has a right to ABC's distribution channels. ABC has the First Amendment right to choose what messages it wants to pay for, distribute, promote and be associated with.
