Fred? No skeletons of note, more important he's SOLID. DEPENDABLE.

Sorry for singling you out, but your post is such a perfect example of what I am talking about I must ask you.....

BASED ON WHAT?

Do you have ANY IDEA about Thompson's sexual issues? The media does, and so does most of Washington. SOLID? Based on WHAT?

I bet you cant name three bills (even with Google) that Thompson got through the Senate, NONE of you can within the next 2 minutes unless your search engines are warmed up already.

FReepers know almost NOTHING about Thompson, but are jumping off that cliff like lemmings. This is getting sad to watch.

I think many of you are seeing Thompson as the Admiral in "Hunt for Red October" and thinking that this is what you would get in a Thompson presidency. I really do. So far, FReepers have shown that they really dont know much about the man at all. He's just the 'other' guy.

In addition to acting, Thompson is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the U.S. China Economic & Security Review Commission and a Visiting Fellow with the American Enterprise Institute, researching national security and intelligence (Communist China, North Korea, and Russia.) Thompson is also signed as a public speaker with the Washington Speakers Bureau.

His voting record in the Senate is what was solid and dependable. Any position he has changed on he has addressed without hesitation, unlike Romney, or even Rudy, who's recent "conversion" to supporting strict constructionists is about as genuine as Hillary Clinton's Southernness.

I know the guy had some high-profile babes (like Lorrie Morgan) when he was single. He was SINGLE. NOT married, unlike Giuliani.

I agree. It's sad to watch someone I always considered a political analyst go completely off the deep end. So far your entire argument seems to be: You shouldn't support Fred because he's not Rudy.

From this side of the internet your objections read like sour grapes because he's pulling support from Rudy.

As of last night, Fred Thompson was the number three person being searched on Google, they’re warmed up (grin) Which means this is bigger the FR.

Easy Doggie, most people are just happy to have another acceptable conservative in the race.

Your comments are off-base, at least for me. I've never seen Thompson act -- somehow I've missed everything he's been in. I don't think he's a white knight -- I merely think he's the best candidate, based on research.

Your criticism illustrates why the system is stacked against fiscal conservatives. Thompson didn't push through a lot of new laws, because for the most part he supports decreasing the size of government rather than increasing it. What he did do is aggressively and consistently fight waste in government. He also championed federalism, and worked to limit unConstitutional federal incursions into states' rights.

CAGW PRAISES THOMPSON REPORT ON FEDERAL MISMANAGEMENT
Washington, D.C. - Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) today commended U.S. Senator Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.), the outgoing chairman of the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, for a report released today documenting the federal government's staggering levels of waste, abuse, and mismanagement. Thompson presented the report, which includes his recommendations for addressing those problems, to Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Mitch Daniels at a press conference in Washington.
"Once again, Chairman Thompson deserves great credit for exposing the pervasive problems in the federal government," CAGW President Tom Schatz said. "As CAGW has documented repeatedly, many federal agencies and programs are duplicative, unaccountable, nontransparent, get poor results, lose money, are mismanaged, and outdated. These problems have persisted for decades, and as this report indicates, are growing worse and require rapid action."

So, I support him because of these issues. I also believe he's electable, because he appeals to both fiscal and social conservatives.

What are you a jilted one night stand he didn't call back or something? How did you become the holder of this "insider" knowledge us stupid star struck FReepers aren't privy to?
