I would be curious to see a (serious) post from someone who isn't for Fred. Not some of the crap that we see here on FR, but a serious analysis, and one with an alternative candidate.

Anyone up to that? Tell us why you dont' support Fred, and who your alternative is and why.

My guess is that no one will make a serious effort that. The point being, this election cycle was made for Fred. The timing is right, no serious/longterm committed conservative has thrown his hat in. And though the GOP field and the party itself is weak, the D's have pretty high negatives.

So, this is perfect timing for Fred.

Honestly, I think the Presidency is his for the taking, if he decides to go for it.

But...again...if someone has a different and intelligent opinion otherwise, I would be curious to know the reasons.

Compared to the other electable candidates in the race Giuliani to me is our best chance, but if FT throws his hat in, there would be no one better. He brings to bear all the qualities I really like about Giuliani (gravitas, leadership) while bringing to bear unquestionable conservative principles. He is closest thing to the perfect package. If FT jumps in, I would have to with all good conscience switch camps. The whole FT is just trying to help McCain is bupkis, because by merely floating his name out there it is not helping bail out McCains campaign, it is just throwing heaps more water onto the S.S. McCain. I think he is being shrewed and honestly waying not only his chances but what he can bring to the race, and that to me is obvious to me, a unity candidate that can unite all the various camps of our great GOP and lead us and our nation onward to victory!
