Dr. Dobson IS simply aplying his own definition of Christian and stating that based on HIS definition of Christian (which many of us happen to share) that Mr. Fred Thompson does not appear to be one..
that is IT....
Do not make it more than what it is...
take it or leave it...
again I say that Mr. Thompson has NO reason to be offended..
IF Mr. Thompson believes that HE is in fact a Christian, it appears that he and Dr. Dobson have different definitions of what it means to be a Christian,..,
IF this is in FACT the case,... which I believe it is...
I would like to hear what Mr. Thompsons definition of being a Christian is since he seems to be "offended" that Dr. Dobson (a well known Christian) said that he does not appear to be one.....
IF a well known atheist were to proclaim that DAVID OSBORNE IS NOT AN ATHEIST.. I would not be offended... because I would accept it as a simple statement of fact..
however if I WAS an atheist I would attempt to clarify with THE PUBLIC.. as well as that individual our differing opinions of what it means to be an atheist..
BTTT
Good grief. Go to the Bible and look
If one believes in Jesus Christ and is baptised - they are a Christian - pure and simple.
They do not need Mr. Dobson to verify their status, they do not need criteria - they have followed Jesus' instructions to be a Christian and therefore they are one - no matter what Mr. Dobson thinks about it.
I think this is a ridiculous argument - Mr. Dobson stepped over the line in putting himself in the position of being a judge and making comments about someone's christianity without full knowledge. He stepped over the line.
Now, no matter of throwing the blame on Mr. Thompson's status as a Christian will change where the start of this nonsense came from.
Even if Mr. Thompson had turned against God and left the church - it is not the purview of Mr. Dobson to go about informing voters of his status.
