I recall this ship was the Phoenix but don't remember the name RA gave it.
I don't think Iran wants war, but rather they think the US doesn't and are going to push and push are far as they think they can without going over where they think the line is. It is a strategy that has not visibly failed to date, unfortunately.

That is what we all hope. But even that best case scenario has significant dangers. That line is not clearly defined. As the Iranians keep escalating and keep testing for the boundary line, they will eventually cross it and wont realize it was crossed until it is too late. I believe that was Saddam's problem when he invaded Kuwait.
