Dobson's mouth must get real dry from all that mouth-breathing.

Gilgoff is the author of the new book "The Jesus Machine: How James Dobson, Focus on the Family, and Evangelical America Are Winning the Culture War.”

He also wrote "How Chiang Kai Shek Returned to the Mainland and Crushed the Reds."

I could vote for a non-Christian who believed that we have a fundamental right to acknowledge God and His sovereignty over all and who believed in the Judeo-Christian values that have always been part of our country's history (and I mean in the public policy way, not the private, keep-it-to-myself-cuz-I'm-ashamed-of-it way). I need agreement on politics, not religion and theology. That said, I'm uncomfortable somewhat with Thompson, especially his closeness to McCain. I do not right now have a strong opinion about him one way or the other.

Conversely, I could not vote for a professing Christian who denied all of the above and whose goal was to tear down and destroy Judeo-Christian values wherever he/she finds them, what's left of them. If he champions evil, perversity, and socialism, I don't care what religion he claims allegiance to.

In defense of Dobson, many denominations that call themselves Christian do not teach Christian doctrine. I wouldn't call Romney a Christian. But that's not the reason I won't vote for him. I won't vote for him because I find him the least honest of all the candidates. He is a parser like Clinton, trying to be on all sides of the issues at the same time. As a voter I have a right to know exactly where a candidate stands in plain english. I don't like a scammer.

Dr Dobson is entitled to his opinion I believe. Just like you can make a personal attack on him with the mouth breathing comment. You and the others on this thread sound like closet DUmmies.

I love your restraint. Mouth breather is a kind description and probably Dobson's smallest problem. He has a very tenuous grasp on reality like many of his ilk who have been "sacred cows" for far too long.

On the other hand if Dobson isn't a baptised member of the Church of Christ he isn't any kind of Christian at all (according to the old boys in the C of C).

Depends on what kind of "mouthbreathing" you want eh?!
