Associates said the senator was deeply affected when his daughter, Elizabeth "Betsy" Thompson Panici, 38, died January 30 after a heart attack. Senate sources said Thompson started telling colleagues of his retirement plans a few days ago, and he told President Bush this week.
Bush praised Thompson -- who was once on Bush's short list of potential vice presidential candidates -- for serving "the people of Tennessee with honor, distinction, and class." http://archives.cnn.com/2002/ALLPOLITICS/03/08/thompson
Thanks that all I was really getting people to see. I live im LA, wives like that are dime a dozen here. However they are not llike that in Middle America.
All this couple has done for the last several years is go to uber-liberal elitists parties (Entertainment Weekly gala's, Oscars, etc). They are socialites who want to be "Presidential". It wont set well with some people.
Good Luck to them. I have nothing against either of them. I hope the best man wins. I really do.
But the jokes and snarky comments I have posted are nothing to what a national campaign will do to them. His supporters better start preparing for it.
