A friend of mine lost his colon and his liver to cancer and is still going strong over 8 years later after getting a liver transplant. Fortunately it didn't spread past the colon and liver. I can't say if Tony would be a candidate for such a procedure, but it has been done before.

Your friend is very luck, the life expectancy for a liver transplant is no longer than 5 years in most cases.
