"According to congressional rules, congressmen and senators are allowed to have a gun on federal property." Debating tools.

Yeah, a dumb mistake, Dumb senators and their aids should not be allowed to carry a gun, especially if they don't know where the gun is.

Because the fine people of Virginia refused to stand up for Sen. Allen.

Some years back they quietly passed a little law giving themselves the status of a U.S. Marshal, no CCW needed.
I guess now some states are requiring that ammo be registered.

I was going to just do the first line. The famous one from Watergate used to imply we should make a federal case out of this the way the D's do. But I got carried away and forgot it was on.

No, it really doesn't.

So, Sen. Webb is going to let his staffer take a fall for this? Is there no way the staffer can get off for not knowing the prohibited items were in the bag he was carrying?

Putting a loaded gun in the hands of a hothead like Webb might not be such a good idea. I think you're exactly right! If he was carrying in Webb's bag for him (which I can't tell from the story, but could be the case), then this would be Webb bringing in a loaded gun to the Senate. Why? Or why would his AA be carrying in a loaded gun?

I keep thinking of the scene in
Full Metal Jacket:
This is my rifle,
This is my gun!
This one's for fighting,
This one's for fun!
Was he holding the Senator's gun?!?!?!?

Because tons of "LOYAL" Republicans thought it was right to sit out the Election! Hopefully they are learning a bitter lesson and will Vote in 08.Unproven assertion. I have seen NO polling to support this assertion, which various freepers have insisted on making over and over and over. In fact there is a 'mushy middle' the decides most elections. They don't have principles or philosophy, but they watch TV and listen to what their acquaintances say. In 2008 the overwhelming vibe (promoted ceaselessly by the MSM) was that Republicans had become corrupt, were gay, or hated gays (depending on venue), etc. Given the closeness of many races moving 1% or 2% of the uncommitted middle to the Donkey side means people like Webb get elected.
Almost every Freeper who posted comments in the run up to the eleciton, ended with a comment saying that, if reluctantly, they were going to vote for the Republican.

Is that true?

Why would you say that? I'm guessing you don't think it was stupid, but that the law is?

Isn't Webb the guy who made a joke about shooting Bush? Or was that just punching him in the mouth?

Hey, there are risks associated with being the staffer of a slimey creature. Sometimes, you get some on ya.

Freeper Lawyers: OK, so is this a crime? There was no criminal intent, there was no *knowledge* that he was breaking the law. At least I'd go for a jury trial, where it would all depend on the judges instructions.

Webb may have a full six pack, but he lacks the plastic thingy that holds 'em all together.
