Congratulations to your National Rugby team that recently defeated the English, Scottish and Italians. I saw some video of the game against England at Croke Park. Amazing. The crowds on both sides were very respectful. Why can't soccer (I'm sorry; football) fans act like that.
They do, for the most part. Ireland played Wales in a European Championship qualifier at Croke Park on Saturday, and, the appalling standard of football served up by the two teams notwithstanding (both nations have very weak teams at the moment), everything went extremely well. If Ireland had a strong soccer team at the moment, the occasion would have been every bit as passionate as the rugby games. Unfortunately, as a nation of four million people, we don't always have top-class players to choose from. That goes for all sports: the rugby team is one of the best in the world at the moment, but five years from now, we could be struggling again.
