US Holds 300 Prisoners Linked to Iran
Pajamas Media ^ | 3/25/07

American forces in Iraq now hold some 300 prisoners tied to Iran’s intelligence agencies, Pajamas Media learned from both diplomatic and military sources....

More likely, the large number of Iran-linked prisoners reflects a change in tactics following the arrival of Multinational Force Iraq commander Army Gen. David H. Petraeus. Previously, Iranians and other foreigners could not be picked up without a provable connection to terrorism. Now, American and allied forces are encouraged to seize militants based on a reasonable suspicion of involvement in insurgent attacks. This is consistent with Iraqi law.

The number of bombings associated with Iran-backed groups seems to be declining, although both sources cautioned it is too soon to be sure.

The Pentagon received “considerable pressure” from officials in the State department and CIA to release some or all of the Iran-linked prisoners to facilitate discussions between Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Iranian officials. Apparently, Gen. Petraeus sharply disagreed, saying that he intends to hold the prisoners “until they run out of information or we run out of food,” according to our sources who heard these remarks through channels.

wrap them in pig guts first, then drop them from 1000'. We can give 15 each day for a week or two.
I think it's time we started overflights and took out their tiny Air Farce and their radar sights. One of these nights we need to blow up all of their major government and religious buildings just to let them know we can. Maybe taking out their top political swine and their top religious hog simoustainioulsy would make the point as well.
There are lots of things we can do. Make a list and do one a day.

"Make them walk ahead of military convoys"

I liked the Spartan decision in "300", to use them as morter for their wall.

Without an aggressive PR campaign, something we’re apparently incapable of, all that would successfully be used to isolate us. But if we harm no innocents, except those hit by the bodies of their falling operatives, what are they going to say? “Quit killing our spies?”… “No getting blood all over our parliamentarian parade grounds?”… The enormity of the carnage would be a testament to the enormity of their involvement in the Iraqi insurgency. It would also scare the crap out of their agents. Give’m a trial. If guilty, drop’m.

A pretty good list of their failures...

I was just making sure you'd seen this Dog, and see that you have.

If our ROE pertaining to terrorists tied to Iran have loosened (at least temporarily) in Petraes's favor, this (or some) retaliation from Iran probably isn't totally unexpected.

Thanks for the ping to this. I hadn't realized it was so many Iranians. Are these some of the people Iran wants freed in exchange for the British sailors and Marines?

I'm sure. Isn't is sickening how Petraeus had to fight for the right to capture these terrorist thugs?

Suicidal diplomacy and inbreeding at the CIA is going to get a lot of people killed.

I must say that expecting soldiers to prove something on the battlefield before they pick up jihadists is the stupidest thing I've heard in, well, maybe ever.

Additionally, a few months ago it was reported that our military couldn't fire on jihadists who fired at the good guys but escaped to a house or vehicle because there might be innocent people inside.

FNC reported the other day that only 40% of the "surge" troops are over there but violence is down over 50%. The Democrats are going to have to work fast to make sure the surge doesn't work.

They're doing their damndest..

Now the 60% that aren't there yet...I wonder if some of those are relief for the ones that have been there a while and also if some will be deployed to other locations such as....Iran.

Nonetheless we know the surge is working because we don't hear anything about it.

That quote "until they run out of information or we run out of food” will go down in military history with "NUTS" and "Old soldiers never die, they just fade away." Got to admire his thinking.
