Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani led off with his strongest card, his terrorism-fighting credentials, before touching on healthcare, immigration and energy policy in a speech to a welcoming crowd Saturday.
"Sept. 11, 2001, taught me and I believe it taught a lot of people, including President Bush that we have to remain on offense," Giuliani said. "That means that we have to use our military. We can't show weakness."
Giuliani seemed to hit all the right notes Saturday, getting applause when he criticized Democrats' stance on healthcare and advocated vouchers for schools.
On immigration, he told reporters he doesn't support amnesty for illegal immigrants, but he could support a guest worker program if there were adequate border security and tamper-proof ID cards. He said that even if illegal immigrants "can demonstrate that they are lawful, that they are paying taxes [and] that they'll pay penalties," they still shouldn't be put ahead of people who go through legal channels.
"And citizenship here, if it's earned, should be premised on being able to read and write English and understand American history, so we restore assimilation to the process of immigration," he said.
"Nothing will unite the Republicans more than a candidate who can beat Hillary Clinton," Curry said.

If you spent as much time reading as you did posting personal attacks, you might discover that it is Rudy's position.
If you support Rudy, you support a Hillary Presidency.
Rudy bailed out against Hillary in 2000 because he couldn't win.
I wasn't aware that Hillary had already nomination, can you give me the final delegate tally?
I really wish people would stop exploiting the pro-life movement for the sake of bashing Rudy.
A quick search of posts tells me none of you quasi "pro-lifers" spend anytime figthing for that cause. You have merely picked up the cause as tool to hit someone over the head with.
Is he such a threat that now you are have to attack him for having Cancer?
You really are clueless, aren't you?
Quasi "pro-lifers"? LOL!
Tool? LOL!
The reason you Rudy folks keep saying "only Rudy can beat Hillary" is because you're trying to distract others from the fact that, when compared to the other Republican candidates, Rudy looks just like the liberal he is.
So you stand him next to an even more liberal liberal, Hillary.
And then you repeat "the talking points". It's all you have.
But we are not fooled by the deception.
Why didn't Rudy run against Hillary last fall?
I didn't attack him for having cancer.
Be careful what you say young lady.
You're treading on thin ice now.
Why bother, since he was clearly going to run for President in 2008?
He wouldn't have been able to run for President after Hillary kicked his butt!
Then they really ought to be focused on taxes, because that MIGHT be the only area where a difference is really obvious.
It didn't stop Hillary. Is she tougher than Rudy?
"You're treading on thin ice now."
y a w n.
get some new material.
I wouldn't say tougher, but she's in a different position than he is. She has to rack up experience to make herself a credible politician, as opposed to simply being Bill Clinton's wife. Rudy didn't need it, especially if he's running for President in 2008. It's a waste of time and money by that point.
All that considered, New York senate race and the POTUS race are not the same thing, any more than running for the Berkely, CA, city council. (Hillary and Rudy would be beaten by Ralph Nader in that race.) So worrying about what could have happened in which Senate race doesn't really apply to the nation at large.
Uh, I think you need to take some time for a longer look. Some of the people you are talking with spend a great deal of time on Pro-life issues. So please do not embarrass yourself with a baseless charge such as that. Rudy deserves to be hit over the head and not get the nomination because he applauds the culture of death.
"'wagglebee' has probably posted more times on those threads than your total number of posts"
Really? So far you lack the credibility to just take your word it. So prove it.
What is my total number of posts and what is the ratio compared to wagglebee's pro-life posts?
I think it's you who needs new material.
The regurgitation of the same old Rudy excuses is wearing thin.
But since all you have is regurgitation, I guess you'll just keep spewing forth.
I did do a search. I found (from his posts) that he is very anti-rudy..and anti-homosexual. I stopped looking after the third page, as they all seemed to be the same posts over and over...so maybe its just buried back behind all the homosexual and Rudy bashing posts?
Ill dig deeper.
Actaully I have more than "regurgitation". Im a member of the Republican party. I also have "voting" privledges. And Rudy has mine. None of your rhetoric has swayed me. In fact its having the opposite effect.
