Now may be a good time to ask: has the captain of that British military ship been replaced? Surely losing 15 men unnecessarily has got to leave a mark.
Its been reported that the captain frantically called command back in UK and was told to "stand down".

That is a good time for 'radio problems'.
Except to the American F16's, etc.

"Its been reported that the captain frantically called command back in UK and was told to "stand down"." Could someone please tell me why we have commanders in the field when they have to get "permission" to act and save their crew members? Imagine how this Captain must feel, imagine how the rest of the crew feels knowing that should something similar happen to them London (and probably Washington, too), will order them "to stand down." This makes no sense.
