Iran 'to try Britons for espionage'
Timesonline Via Drudge Report ^ | March 25, 2007 | Uzi Mahnaimi, Michael Smith and David Cracknell

FIFTEEN British sailors and marines arrested by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards off the coast of Iraq may be charged with spying.

A website run by associates of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, reported last night that the Britons would be put before a court and indicted.

Referring to them as “insurgents”, the site concluded: “If it is proven that they deliberately entered Iranian territory, they will be charged with espionage. If that is proven, they can expect a very serious penalty since according to Iranian law, espionage is one of the most serious offences.”

The warning followed claims by Iranian officials that the British navy personnel had been taken to Tehran, the capital, to explain their “aggressive action” in entering Iranian waters. British officials insist the servicemen were in Iraqi waters when they were held.

The penalty for espionage in Iran is death. However, similar accusations of spying were made when eight British servicemen were detained in the same area in 2004. They were paraded blindfolded on television but did not appear in court and were freed after three nights in detention.

Iranian student groups called yesterday for the 15 detainees to be held until US forces released five Revolutionary Guards captured in Iraq earlier this year.

>>>Call Pelosi she knows how to solve all the world's problems after stabbing the military in the back first.<<<

It is the "cut and run" treasonous actions of Pelosi, Murtha, Kennedy, Biden and O'bama et al that have sent a message to Ahmadinejad and the Iranian military that they can tweek the Coalition's (read U.S. and Britain) nose anytime they want to.

They are as directly responsible for the 15 Brit. Navy sailors being taken as if they had sent Iran an invitation.

If they go on trial, send the Stealths and British Corsairs. The Dems and the Left will go nuts. So what? Bush has one year to go. At least go out blazing. No troops, just missiles and bombers. And don't tell me about all thos moderates, students, and professors in Iran who are really, really , really trying to change the govt. Malarky.

I'm trying to think of something that Iran might do that would provoke the UK more than this, but I'm not thinking of anything. They are absolutely itching for a fight. Why bring England into it, though? England has a lot more sympathy on the world stage than America does.

Either way, I hope Blair doesn't let them get away with this. Thatcher would never.

IF this situation unfolds as you have predicted, Tony Blair will not be worthy of wearing Margaret Thatchers bloomers!

It is way past time to deal with Iran! We cannot win the peace in Iraq until we address Iran and we will never win the war on state-sponsored terror until they are dealt with.

Maggie had more testosterone in menopause than Blair has had in his entire life.

Nothing is going to happen from the British - wouldn't want to upset the Muslim immigrant population now, would we?

Time will tell. You touch upon an interesting question. How will the Muslim population in England react if the Brits strike Iran?

Pelosi, Murtha, Kennedy, Schumer, Reid, Boxer, Queen Hillary, and the rest of the traitors are equally as responsible for the deaths of American patriots in Iraq and Afganistan. Their anti-war rhetoric has emboldened our enemies. The enemy knows that the Liberal MSM announces every American death on the nightly news and the next day Liberals in Congress threaten to pull the troops.

IMO, Pelosi, the MSM, and Liberals have American blood on their hands.

This is starting to remind me of what Iran's client Org. The Hessies did to Israel! We know how that ended. Iran is now so emboldened that they are starting the same BS with the Brits, face to face so to speak.
They know that the west has lost it's will. They are smearing our face in it. Every terror Org. knows this. It is a great morale boost for Terror INC.. Iran will get whatever they want.
Sadly there are no Ball$ left anywhere in charge on our side!!

No, they are not spoiling for a fight. They probably do not want a full fight. Instead they they astutely gauge and act against our weakness. They want to make us itch, to distract us, to demoralize, to force us to act with cowardice, with fear of making a mistake, to make us limp.

Agreed. The Cowardly Crybabies should be ignored. Curious, why Iran did this? It's too obvious. This along with foreign embassy staffs planning escape routes, Russia complaining about late payments and the French Navy appearing in theater, Iran wants something to happen. Question, do we want something to happen? Are all our pieces in place?
