This is another earthquake, different and larger than the quake off of Honshu, Japan.
More information on the way...
""If only we had signed the Kyoto treaty, none of this would have happened.
It's Bush's fault"
There is no assessment yet made, no one attributes earthquakes to Bush or Global Warming and a dear friend of mine lives there. Congratulations, you must be proud. You pissed off a complete stranger over the internet for your ignorant remarks.""
Two words:
De-caffe
The one near Japan is 6.7, at Vanuatu it's 7.2.

BD, do you know if both of these quakes were off of the coast, and if so, is the depth at the level to cause damage to land?
I will keep him in my prayers, and I hope that you hear good news very soon.
The quake was 210 miles from Vanuatu. I'm sure your friend and everyone on the island are fine.
Good to hear. I suspect he's just fine as well. He's a survivor type. It's unknown to me at this point...that's the reason for my agita.

I hope they stay off the beach. This one's going to put some water in the air.
Side note: There were several small quakes near Oklahoma City recently. USGS is now monitoring the area to see if they are related to salt water injection of oil wells.
It was funny....nd someone had to say it.
You know, I have many dear friends in Iraq and I don't get pissy every time there's a bombing or fatality or every time someone cracks a joke.
Ping.

Most undersea earthquakes of this size do not generate tsunami.
There are some people out there who will go out of their way to take offense at anything at all.
The thing about "Bush's Fault" is it stopped being funny as a FR reply, oh, about the second time someone used it, probably about 4 years ago.
Are people REALLY thinking they're getting chuckles out of the fifty billionth "Bush's fault" reply on a thread on FR, or that they're being original or clever?
There ARE running jokes that continue to be funny - like "Stuned Beeber" - but "Bush's Fault" isn't one of them.
