The Hunley was built here in my home town (Mobile) on Water Street and shipped to Charleston by rail. Two or three of the earlier subs and their nine man crew are thought to still be here in the bay.

Evidence based on the crewmen's teeth shows at least four came from Europe That's just way too easy.

Thanks Blam. Ordinarily I ping Civil War topics anyway, but since I'm not going to be able to stay away long enough to do the digest this early on Saturday, I'm particuarly eager to ping this one. :')
To all -- please ping me to other topics which are appropriate for the GGG list. Thanks. Please FREEPMAIL me if you want on or off the
"Gods, Graves, Glyphs" PING list or GGG weekly digest

Thanks for the ping Stainlessbanner; I saw the replica of the Hunley last year at the WBTS re enactment in Fresno, CA. Great presentation of its history and its honorable and brave crewmen.

That was the first shock. The second shock was learning that the records in the South are no comparison to the records in the North."If he knows any history, he should be able to figure out why.

They have really done a fantastic, first-rate job. I have not seen it yet, but I have been following the story through
Friends of the Hunley for years.
To: PAR35
That's common knowledge in the South.
