The Democrats are so drunk with power, now they get to have their first serious hangover.

They're drunk with power all right but this is a carefully calculated political move. They know Bush will veto any bill like that. They also know their propaganda machine, the MSM, will pound their message of Republicans-as-warmongers until the 2008 elections. The veto will be used as proof and I predict the electorate will be conditioned by their Big Lies to vote for Democrats.

Liberals may be noxious, hateful, anti-American and despicable in every way, but they are never politically stupid. They understand dirt-level politics at least 1000 times better than Republicans and have the cojones to pull the trigger when we don't. No lie is too great for them.

I agree with your premise completely, but the outcome is radically different than your view. The RATS will ultimately send the President a clean supplemental with no timetables, because they face political suicide if they don't. He can veto and veto and veto until they send him an acceptable bill. These freshmen RATS know that Pelosi cannot protect them next November -- they'll bolt in a New York minute, and there is a good possibility that Nancy will lose control of the House altogether.

The President of the United States can tell the American people that the blood of American soldiers is on the hands of Democratic leaders in the House and Senate who want to micromanage this war, defund this war, and load the emergency funding with pork.

The White House is holding all the cards on this and both the RATS and the MSM know it. There is no need for the President to compromise on this in any fashion.

If liberals are that politically smart why did they lose 7 of the last 10 Presidential elections and why did they lose Congress from 1994-2006? Why do you people always forget the most important and simplest facts like the ones I showed above? It is important not to underestimate your opponents but it is extremely stupid and unproductive to over rate them, give them a sense of invincibility when the facts and reality show the opposite. Enough knee jerking on our side.
