it sets the President up for yet another round of bashing in news stories.

That would happen regardless of what he says. All President Bush has to do is get out of bed, smile, seem to enjoy life, it doesn't matter what he does, he gets blasted.

Get real, HJ, in the eyes and dark souls of his enemies, and they are legion here at home, he can do nothing right. If he hadn't used the word pork, which has you so concerned, it would have been something else. Maybe his tie, his facial expression, it doesn't matter, it's always going to be something.

He's still standing, and it drives them nuts.

Nope, sorry.

Here's what is going to happen.. Bush has his sound bite, and 200 Dems will have theirs... Bush's sound bite on his authority of Commander in Chief and the war will not be answered in those 200 Dems responding, they'll just bring up the fact he's never vetoed anything for Pork... so which is going to have more life in the coming press Cycles?

The Presidents one time explanation of his Veto which included the reasons regarding the war.. or the 200 different press conferences and interviews the dems will all individually have quesitoning Bush and Pork?

This is how the press works folks... Bush should have owned the next news cycle, by simply playing to his strength... instead he's undermined himself a bit by this, and given the dems another round of attacks on him in a press cycle.

That's the reality, wish it wasn't, but that's how it is.
