As for metastasis to the liver, it is not always very bad. I was diagnosed a year ago with carcinoid cancer with the primary in the terminal ileum and a metastasis to the liver. Now, carcinoid is not an aggressive cancer so there's not really a comparison there, but I do know that a small tumor can be completely cut out of the liver. The liver does regenerate.
My liver tumor was completely cut out last summer. Since his cancer has metastasized, there is the unfortunate circumstance of cancer cells floating around in there, but Tony has lots of people praying for him and great doctors, I'm sure.
He remains in my prayers, to be sure.

You must meet life's chalenges with actions, not tears.

"Snowy Footprints", by PEG
- Here's the tale.
- Mouse came out of his house one day. He saw the ground covered with snow and he began to cry.
- Fox would see his footprints in the snow and he would follow him. Surely Fox would catch him.
- Mouse cried some more.
- Rabbit came out of his hole that day. He saw Mouse crying.
- "Why are you crying, Mouse?" he asked.
- Mouse said, "Fox will follow my footprints in the snow. He will chase and catch me."
- "No," said Rabbit. "I will hop along behind you and brush the snow over your footprints. Fox will never catch you."
- Rabbit covered Mouse's footprints. Mouse was happy.
- Rabbit looked behind him to see if Fox was coming. Rabbit began to cry.
- Squirrel came down from his tree that day. He saw Rabbit crying.
- "Why are you crying, Rabbit?" he asked.
- Rabbit said, "I covered Mouse's footprints in the snow so Fox would not catch him. Now my footprints are in the snow. Fox will surely catch me."
- "Don't cry, Rabbit," said Squirrel, I will brush the snow over your footprints. Fox will not be able to find you." Rabbit was happy.
- Squirrel looked behind him to see if fox was coming. He began to cry.
- Racoon came out of his bush that day. He saw Squirrel crying.
- "Why are you crying, Squirrel?" he asked.
- "I hopped behind Rabbit and covered his footprints with snow so Fox wouldn't catch him," said Squirrel. "Now, my footprints are in the snow. Fox will surely catch me."
- "I will cover your footprints with snow," said Racoon. "Fox will not be able to catch you." Squirrel was happy.
- Racoon looked behind him to see if Fox was coming. He began to holler. Fox was following his footprints in the snow. Surely he would catch him.
- Racoon began to run. Fox chased Racoon all over the meadow until he heard a noise behind him. Fox and racoon stopped and looked behind them. They both began to cry.
- There was Bear coming out of the woods. Surely he would catch them.
- Bear was hollering at them. "Wait, Fox. Wait, Racoon. Wait Squirrel and Rabbit. Wait Mouse. It's such a beautiful, snowy day." said Bear. "Let's all get together and build a snowman."
- Bear, and Fox, and Racoon, and Squirrel, and Rabbit, and Mouse gathered in the meadow and began to build a snowman.
- Bear and Raccon rolled three snowballs for the snowman's body.
- Fox and Squirrel gathered sticks for the snowman's arms.
- Rabbit found an old, dried carrot for the snowman's nose.
- Mouse gathered nuts for the snowman's eyes and teeth.
- When the snowman was finished they danced in a circle around him. They sang and laughed, and were happy to see the snowman they had made together.
- No one cried any more that day.
- And, that's the end.
- Remember to look behind you when you walk in the snow. You may not see Mouse, or Rabbit, or Squirrel, or Racoon, or Fox, or Bear, but you will see your own footprints.
- Watch for more Peg Tales, and share a story with a friend...it's a gift!

It's a kind of warm puddly though.

Sorry if that seemed "infantile", but the allegory touched me.
The Fox and the Bear are the press.
We are the Mouse and the Rabbit.
And you know who the Snowman is.
I hope he would approve.

Positive thinking is 95% of the battle, the rest is out of our hands.Prayer and a positive attitude, of course.:-)
God bless your mom. She's obviously a strong woman.

I'm glad you are doing better!Thank you. My doctor tells me I'll be around here for decades yet. There can be life (long and full) after a metastasis to the liver diagnosis. :-)
I give the glory to God. Not the PC generic one-size-fits-all god, but the one true God, the God of the Bible, Old and New Testament. Without Him, I'd be in deep trouble.

Aw, that's so sweet. I should use that somewhere, if I may. Perhaps a graphic, or something.
Of course you may. I'd love to see what you could do with it! Blessings to you for all the pings and links!

Hey, all. My DSL is malfunctioning. Actually, it is my wife's that is down but I am wired to her network. So I will appear infrequently on dial-up, when it is free. Tomorrow I will be gone in the morning. Ironically, I will be helping Tony's Davidson College radio station, W-DAV, raise money. The connection will be in the back of my mind all morning.
On a lighter note, I hope everyone saw Griff Jenkins', aka "Surferboy", report about Tony on the John Gibson show. Griff was great. He gave a one two punch. First, talked about the great optimism Tony displays and then, second, talked about Tony's great faith in the power of prayer and all the prayers that he was receiving.
I am working on an address for "real" mail but have not touched base with Tony yet. He has much to do before he gets down to me.
Thanks to all who were so supportive of Tony and one another on the Thread today. And prayers up again [and as long as necessary] for Tony and his family.
Goodnight All.
God bless, Tony and family.
