It would be easier just to call it "Anastasis"

He was raised on the Third Day
Friday Saturday Sunday
3 days.

That isn't what the Bible says.

Matthew 12:40 -
For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Three days and three nights in the "heart of the earth" - Friday, Friday night, Saturday, Saturday night, Sunday, Sunday night. That makes the Resurrection on Monday.

Mark 8:31 -
He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.

AFTER 3 days (died on Friday, AFTER Friday, after Saturday & after Sunday - that would make it Monday that he rose. Not "within 3 days" but "after" 3 days.)

Mark 9:31
Because he was teaching his disciples. He said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise."

Again note - AFTER 3 days - not within 3 days or "on the 3rd day" but AFTER 3 days.

Mark 10:34
who will mock him and spit on him, flog him and kill him. Three days later he will rise."

"Three days later" - died on Friday. Saturday is the first day later, Sunday is the second day later and Monday is the third day later.

Matthew 27:63
"Sir," they said, "we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise again.'

Again "after three days" does not mean "within 3 days".

Here are 5 different Scriptures that all say the same thing. Three days "after", three days "later" and "three days and three nights".
None of these agree with the day and a half (Friday midday to dawn on Sunday morning)that we now believe.

However the word Easter is not a Christian word. Sure it isn't. I guess we are all wrong.

Obviously (or may not so obviously) I meant the ORIGIN of the word Easter is not Christian.

While Christmas was moved to coincide with the pagan holidays at the winter Solstice - the word "Christmas" is obviously of Christian origin.

Both the word "Easter" and the spring holiday that already existed before the birth of Christ were not of Christian origin.

I got rebuked for saying "wait a cotton picking minute." I was told I was insensitive to former slaves. So, cotton is out. No, "I don't cotton to it," no, "I'm in high cotton," No, 100% Cotton or cotton-poly blend either.

So, do not let the tradition of men get you all that upset.

If He raised on a Sunday then count backwards. When you have your three days and three nights, then you will know what day He was crucified.

He was in the tomb on Friday Saturday Sunday That's three days 1 Friday 2 Saturday 3 Sunday

Count again.

3:00 pm on Friday to 6:00 am on Sunday is not three days by anyone's count. It's 39 hours. Three days is 72 hours.

Read the Scripture again - it says "three days and three nights". Tell me how Friday afternoon to Dawn on Sunday is "three days and three nights" - it's two days and two nights - at the most.(Friday, Friday night, Saturday, Saturday night. Even if you count Sunday - then what about Sunday night? The Bible says 3 days AND 3 nights.)

Let's see he was in the tomb when it was night on Friday and when it was night on Saturday and when it was night on Sunday.

According to my calculator, that's 3.

You better calculate again. How do you figure he was in the tomb on Sunday night when the tomb was empty on Sunday morning?

If you are going to count the predawn hours of Sunday as Sunday night - then when was Saturday night? You can't split one night into two and call it both Saturday night and Sunday night. It's one or the other.

He was crucified on Friday afternoon. Friday is the first day. Friday night is first night. Saturday is the second day and Saturday night is the second night. Sunday is the third day. Where is the third night? Not Sunday night because he was already in the tomb.

How long before the Publik Skoolz ban all mention of "Good Friday"?
Can you just image....

"Well, we can't use the word 'good', because then we'd have to explain why it's 'good' and then we'd have to mention, you know, 'Him'..err, I mean 'him', and besides the word 'good' is such a value judgment, and who are we to judge whether the day is really good or not because of..well, you know... "

And by the way... when are we going to ban "Earth Day"? Isn't that a vicious insult to all the other planets out there?

It was night on Sunday when he was in the tomb. You have to think like a 1st century Jew.

So when was Saturday night? (If that was actually Friday night - then when was Friday night? Thursday night?)

No matter how you think it - there are only two nights he was in the tomb, not three. The night after he died and the next night. He rose at dawn at the end of the second night. There is no third night.

You can't count the same night as both Saturday night and Sunday night.

I think you are playing semantics here. Use any name or any word you choose - he was still only in the tomb on 2 nights.
