REPORT: All charges may be dropped as early as tomorrow in Duke Lacrosse rape case, FOXNEWS reports... 'We will be hearing a dismissal in the coming days,' MORE...
Nothing follows....
I don't think a $500 fine for filing a false police report and a huge judgment will trigger that. If her lifestyle thus far hasn't raised some eyebrows in Durham, then I'm thinking your Social Services Department has flatlined -- no offense to anyone in the Social Services Industry -- can't be too careful these days.
Well, given her record, one can hope this is the one that pushes her over the edge. If Social Services doesn't take away those kids then we might as well shut the whole thing down.
Made me laugh. That's another story for another day. Things are in somewhat of a disarray at various levels in this country. Don't know if we can get the horse back in the barn at this point, but can't stop trying to bridle it, I suppose.
You have just hit the nail on the head. When we come to the point where you only get as much justice as you can afford, then WE'RE DOOMED (to paraphrase ALGORE). That's what really sent me reeling when the ACLU and Black Panthers went on the march (not to mention Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson) and the editorials by blacks were so callous. Of all the people who should have known what it is to face Goliath with a slingshot, they should have and yet, not one.
As much as we went through, I would fight like a tiger to keep it from happening to someone else. I just don't get it.
No need for either of us to apologize for our sentiments, or lack thereof. Sorry if you mistook my post as being specifically directed at you. I should have changed the "To" to "All."
Well don't worry too much - Duke as a whole will survive, they will still have their endowment and the institution is not going anywhere, but the administration and the faculty members who behaved so recklessly should pay a heavy price (knowing liberal academia as well as I do, they probably won't face the slightest sanction, but they should).
There should be a serious house-cleaning of the PC-fanatic administration. They probably can't/won't do anything about tenured faculty who took part in the lynch mob, but if any of the "88" are not tenured they do not deserve to be.....
fwiw, the worst scumbag I encountered in quite a few years around academia was a liberal dean from Duke who was a real POS. Yeah, it was just one person, but also a character-type..... a PC-vicious POS who was in every way just like the "88" ..... ready to frame and fry innocent people for political convenience.
I totally agree there should be a house-cleaning. Although, I must say, now exposed, the 88 pose much less of a threat than they did before everyone was wise to their vitriole. I don't wish them on any other institution. I'd prefer to see them driven out of academia period. I am also not so naive as to think there wouldn't be 89 more to take their place.....
I understand school loyalty. Heck, I hung with ASU through its scandals and finally departed when they changed their stupid jerseys to put "Arizona State" on the front, like the damn students were incapable of knowing what team they were rooting for without it.
Duke and the city of Durham are facing legal liabilities gigantic enough to shut both of them down and the other shoe which has yet to fall is what happens when the kids who have time to think about it choose between Duke and Brand X. Early admissions are down over 20% and those are the kids who had to make an immediate decision. Duke has to clean its own house and then move; no parent in his right mind would send a kid to ANY school within 30 miles of Durham NC at this point. The biggest villians in this entire story are the city of Durham, the racist idiots who live and vote there, the NC chapter of NAACP, and the activist racists at NCCU. Those people clearly view the voting franchise the same way Hitler viewed the V2 rocket, i.e. as a revenge weapon.
Still think he's being blackmailed. Even dems have some self-preservation instict. If this gets rid of Nifong,Brodhead and keeps the radical faculty's mouths a little less venomous against the white male then I'm happy. I also want to see the families get their money back plus some.
Is this someone connected to the current Hoax?
Skypilot is right. That happened and more. Just telling the boys not to lawyer-up is a suit waiting to happen. See what happens when people don't understand the constitution.
When I say I want the university to pay, I don't mean that I want Duke, my alma mater, to be destroyed. I mean that I want Duke as we know it now to be reconstructed--to remove Nifong, to examine its predilection for hiring RADICAL faculty, for some serious administrative introspection about what they did here and why. The extremists need to go and they do need to shell out some serious bucks because they understand nothing else.
Rae Evans vowed to make Nifong pay every day for the rest of his life. Count on him being sued.
And only a year late.
She will just have more.
WRAL is reporting that stories of the charges being dropped are inaccurate and the case continues for a few more weeks.
