I am just sick of the Republicans running scared like a San Francesco valued coward before the swine called the Democrat party.

I thought Bush was the president who was loyal to his appointments but for some reason Nancy, Hairy and the MSM make him shake in his boots.

As Bill Parcells said about his quarterback Tony Roma, "put away the anointing oil until he proves himself".

At some point the Republicans have to take a stand and be counted.

We do not win respect constantly bowing to the wishes of those who would harm us.

Bush is single-handedly destroying the Republican party.....his weakness is profound.

When statements like this are made on this forum, Free Republic loses credibility as a rational, thinking (i.e conservative) board.

It's so ludicrous that there isn't even a rational way to respond to it.

HAVE YOU HEARD WHAT'S GOING ON IN IRAQ THESE DAYS??

Tell alQeda that President Bush is 'weak.' If your 'charges' weren't so serious, you people would make me laugh.

But then again, we know all about leftists and 'serious charges,' don't we?

"This non-scandal is ridiculous. Every conservative and Republican, beginning with the POTUS, should tell the RATS and the media to go to Hell."...

Right there with ya! Have been really frustrated and angry with the Republicans on these democrat political "attack" issues....President Bush should call a press conference with the whole damn republican party behind him and tell the Democrats to go to H***. Really ticks me off they don't,

I'm off to post the Pray for President Bush thread, and then leaving for Chicago.

I will include this issue in my prayer, and include prayers to quell the enemies of truth.........some of which post frequently on Free Republic.

Stay at home Republicans let the Rats sweep the election

Where do you come up with this stuff? It wasn't the "say at home republicans" it was the middle that voted for the democrats because the RNC, Bush, Rove, and the others didn't give anyone a reason to vote for them other than if you don't vote republican you will get Nancy...dumb thing to run on. The republicans lost because they didn't use the democrats own words or actions against them, in short the republican leadership didn't show up. I am sure there was a reason for the lack luster campaign and I think it was to get a congress that would go along with his amnesty for illegals.

Back to the issue - I have yet to see Bush come out with a strong, forceful statement backing anyone in his administration.

This reduces the risk that Gonzales will be the next Anthony Kennedy or David Souter, at least.

First the press reports a so-called apology by Gonzales, but we never even see in direct quotes what Gonzales said.

Doesn't matter that the apology is unquoted, some Freepers read about the unquoted apology and react.

Then, last night we had unnamed sources saying that Gonzales was going to be dumped.

Doesn't matter that the sources were unnamed, some Freepers read the unnamed resources and react.

Now we have a direct quote from the President, and some Freepers like the mind-numbed reactionaries that they are doubt what the President says.

Is there any doubt that the MSM is still pretty successful at what they do.

BTW: The adolescent sniping/pettiness at FR is REALLY getting old!

Deb, you nailed it. I don't know if there's a single news story posted here anymore about which people refrain from such juvenile behavior. Everything -- even something as non-political as the pet food recall -- is filtered through the most narrow, politically far-right, sour world view. Pettiness and cowardly sniping seems to be the hallmark of most of FR's denizens these days. Sour, bitter, trite, empty sarcasm passes for witty commentary here.

Bob, I pinged you to this because you wanted to know why participation on FR is down. Read the pathetic sniping on this thread and you'll get your answer.

I used to think of Bush as a "his word is his bond" kind of guy. Now I am confused.

He began to lose me when he fired Rummy after saying for months that he had full confidence in him. The day after the election...when his supporters were looking for something to hold onto, he fired Rummy. Now he seems like just another checked pants Republican pragmatist trying to maintain the status quo. Doing whatever he can do to not p.o. the democrats. That's not who I thought I was voting for.

I, for one, don't care if Alberto "MECHA" Gonzalez stays or not. That said, this "scandal" is a complete crock.
