He's a more legitimate conservative than Giuliani, McCain, and Romney. Agree wholeheartedly compared to the first two... not so sure about Romney. I have a good hunch that Thompson's position on illegals is no different than McCain's, Giuli's... or the president's.

I like the guy. A lot. No, he's not perfect, but he's probably the most conservative potential candidate who has a realistic chance.
