What word would you use to describe someone who makes such pledges to a foreign government?

The last republican ever to be elected to national office?

Ive always taken that as much more specific than a shot at Americans in general. To me, at least, in political speech "family values" has a specific meaning. Hes calling conservatives bigots. For Bush "family values" dont stop at the Rio Grande but they apparently stop at the borders of the Americas as I never here him calling to make it easier for the rest of the world to come here.

"North American Union. This is what Bush is working towards."

That's right! He used all the keywords in his speech....safty, prosperity, partners, hemisphere, mutual, migration........

Very disappointing. I trust Giuliani on this issue more than Bush. Disgraceful.

You might want to take a look at this.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1800728/posts

[snip]New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani on June 6 criticized Bob Dole for supporting immigration legislation that would restrict federal aid to immigrants. According to Giuliani, Republicans should not follow public opinion polls that show broad support for measures to curb illegal immigrants, and to reduce assistance for immigrants.

Giuliani also criticized a provision of the pending immigration bill that would require state and local agencies to notify the INS if they detect illegal aliens. New York has since 1984 prohibited city agencies from cooperating with the INS.

Bush is selling out our country and our Constitution because of his weak will on this issue.

Bush is selling out our country and our Constitution because of his rich friends need for 1st issued PEMEX STOCK. That pesky Mexican Constitution needs to be change for PEMEX to go public.

On more thing, most Mexican despise US!

Deal Or No Deal...NO DEAL MEXICO!

I can't find a live thread on the noon press conference with Bush and Calderon.....I am absolutely LIVID at what I'm hearing!!!

Ok, so, we are no longer simply ignoring the word ILLEGAL as in ILLEGAL immigration, we are going to ignore the word IMMIGRATION and call it MIGRATION!!

Has anyone else been watching this?

Bush calling it MIGRATION REFORM! He has NOT ONCE used the words ILLEGAL or IMMIGRATION.

Summary:
Important and sensitive issue of MIGRATION. I say sensitive....people can use to inflame passions...I say important because a good MIGRATION law will help both economies and the security of both countries. If people can come into our country on a temp basis to work at jobs american are doing they won't have to sneak across the border. prevent human rights abuses, coyotes, document forgers, etc. As we discussed I will work with congress, members of both parties, to pass immigration law that will allow us to respect rule of law AND humanity and values of US of A.

aghhh.

I'm listening to the BUSH presser from Mexico.

He's stuck with thinking that Comprehensive Immigration Reform (aka amnesty) will take pressure off the borders so that the flow of Illegals will be diminished.

He said that the latest efforts to enforce our existing laws wrt employing illegals, has shown the American public that he is serious about enforcing laws, so we should be more comfortable with his CIR plan.

I guess he's thinking a few raids by ICE is getting the public's trust on his side..NOT TRUE.

Again Bush sends a message to the Illegals "we can't kick people out of the country"..Bush continues to deny that his CIR is amnesty, rather it's a "path to citizenship"..

It's hard to watch him "spin" these days..very hard.

Bush...Chertoff is helping Republicans..negotiating terms..no amnesty...won't work, neither will kicking people out...that's just empty talk. We are a nation of laws and we much change the law for the better. Republicans must find a common ground with TED KENNEDY, because Kennedy is one of the best legislator Senators there is.

Q to Calderon: You have family working in the states...are they there legally?

Yes, I do and these are people who work and respect that country, pay taxes to the government, who work in the fields, handle that which you eat, respect the US, who have children who want these children to be educated...blah, blah...so, thank you very much to all, have a nice day!

YOU DECIDE....CALDERON HAS FAMILY HERE ILLEGALLY???

The US now provides Mexico with the nuclear umberalla that is paid for by US taxpayers. Mexico has no welfare safety nets, health insurance, and no Social Security system.

Illegals here get paid under the table and don't even pay taxes and send billions of US dollars back to their corrupt country.

Illegals can collect US Social Security with fraudulent SS cards, whereas American citizens have to work and contribute far longer than illegals before collecting.

And what is the impact of the Totalization Agreement with Mexico on the US Social Security Trust Fund?

The Totalization Agreement would in effect ship our
Social Security system to Mexico. It would allow millions of illegal Mexican workers to draw billions of dollars from the US Social Security Trust Fund.

The agreement between the U.S. and Mexico was signed in June 2004, and is awaiting the president's signature.

Pretty soon US senior citizens will be on the Mexican "retirement system"---selling sticks of chewing gum on street corners.

I get sick watching this stuff.

Bush makes me sick watching him. Had to go to another room. I had to laugh when Bush admitted that A. Gonzales had made mistakes regarding the firings of U.S. Attorneys. Gonzales needs to resign for more reasons than one.

You have done an excellent job of capturing his speech. You just couldn't capture Bush's looks. He just does not look sincere when talking about Mexico even though I know he is sincere to the Mexicans.
