Please explain exactly what Fred Thompson has done to make him a good Presidential candidate. He can ACT like he is President but he didn't exhibit leadership qualities when he was in the Senate. Obama is the exact same way-he says pretty words without substance and has exhibited no leadership anyplace. As far as the polls, the numbers are very low and are not statistically significant. In other words, they mean nothing.
Merry,
That's a fair question. I am not actually someone that thinks the best president needs to be a seasoned politician. I would be happy to support someone such as Ross Perot IF PEROT HAD A CHANCE, WAS CONSERVATIVE, AND WASN'T CRAZY. My point being that I don't necessarily think that a president needs to be steeped in DC or politics for that matter to occupy the oval office.
If you look at the current crop of candidates, none of them really have much more experience that Thompson. Yes, Romney served one term as Gov, Rudy served as Mayor of a big city, Hillary has served just over one term as Senator, and Obama hasn't even served one term yet. Thompson's experience is actually a little more substantial than just the Senate. He did assist the White House with the John Roberts nomination. He worked on the Watergate hearings, and has been in the Senate for over one term.
My gut tells me that the people are fairly sick of politicians as usual and he would be warmly received.
