says he 'can't handle' living here any longer

Bye. Be sure to renounce your citizenship on the way out.

Don't come back now, ya hear?

Exactly, I'd tell him "Don't let the door hit you in the a** on the way out."

I also hope he saved some money from his work - 'cause I'll never watch another thing (movie/tv-show/play) he has anything to do with. (acting, directing, producing, writing...)

What is it with these so-called "stars"??? They make a little money, gain a little notoriety for entertainment (movies/music/sports etc.) and all of a sudden they are experts on national and international matters? Wake up people! A lot of these entertainers barely finished high school and have little or no formal training in anything other than acting.

Their "insights" into politics are no better than, and very probably worse than, the average person's. At least you and I, regular people, probably have a normal group of friends representing a decent cross-section of views. I know I do. I have friends that are unabashed liberals, and some that are so far out to the right they'd make Rush Limbaugh look like Lennon. So you and I, we're exposed to a broad range of views.

But these famous entertainers... Many (most?) of them are surrounded by "their people" - and their people want to stay their people. So they aren't going to contradict them, or provide any serious counter-point. These entertainers lead an unrealistic lifestyle surrounded by yes-men/women and end up with a very parochial and distorted view of the world. Yet they feel somehow qualified to and justified in using their fame as a platform for their own political views. Disgusting.
