That's actually rather progressive, that there was even an arrest and conviction. Friends of ours lost their son in a brutal murder and they have had to struggle for over two years to get the local police to arrest the 'brudda' who did it. Everyone knows who did it, but you don't go against the son of an 'auntie' and everyone is your 'auntie' unless you're white.

Sadly, I think you're right. How is this not a 'hate crime'? (Rhetorical, really...)

Actually, blacks are more that twice as likely to be charged with a hate crime as whites. The last time I saw a statistic on it, 38% of all hate crime convictions were against blacks despite making up only 13% of the population.

Then this isn't getting much media attention at all, compared to the white-on-black "hate crimes."

Actually a "summons" being issued means that the girl is in fact charged with a crime. It means she has been summoned to court to answer to the charges of assault, or whatever the charge was. Being a juvenile, she wasn't actually arrested, but simply "taken into custody" to be questioned and issued the summons. Rather than like an adult being taken to jail, she would then be released to her parents.
