Do you agree with outlawing the term Illegal Alien?

Unfortunately, being here in Texas, I have had friends who were illegals. They never once mentioned being insulted by that term.

'Faggot' is a well-known insult, that everyone finds offensive when someone they don't like calls them one.

I got it -- you're so partisian you'll defend one of ours when she calls someone a faggot.

Either that, or you're the kind of person who goes around calling others a faggot.

Those are small groups, but obviously you're out there.

I'm on the other side of that fence. I believe calling folks "faggot" is tacky, rude, senseless. And it ain't just me.

"I personally find the word 'alien' offensive when applied to individuals, especially to children," said Sen. Frederica Wilson, D-Miami.

Sorry you don't get to decide.

"It's abot preserving civilization and the Republic..."

Oh, and there I was thinking it was about a joke.

Sheesh.

God help you when something really important does come along.

"'Faggot' is a well-known insult, that everyone finds offensive when someone they don't like calls them one."

So well known that is completely escaped the authorities on the English language at the Oxford English Dictionary.

You don't have to be a repugnant, hate-filled cretin in order to be conservative. It's abot preserving civilization and the Republic, neither of which hinge on the right to hurl invectives at homosexuals.

"It's abot preserving civilization and the Republic..." Oh, and there I was thinking it was about a joke.

Quoting out of context is cretinous as well. Good show!

"If by PC you mean Practical Conduct, then yes, it is a PC thing to advocate."

Oh, right, yes, that's what I meant, Medved is spouting Practical Conduct. And when I say your post intended to "explain" my comments and support him is complete and utter B.S., I mean, of course, that it is Believeable Stuff.

Why do you avoid the citations to American dictionaries already given?

I think it is undeniable what the REAL problem is, the media has joined the Democrat party. Until that gets fixed, we cannot expect a fair deal.

It's time to face that up front and begin making plans to circumvent. We are not without alternatives, talk radio, a few newspapers, FNC, and most of all the Internet itself. I admit it's a meager list, but ripe for expansion.

"I personally find the word 'alien' offensive when applied to individuals, especially to children," said Sen. Frederica Wilson, D-Miami.

Actually, if she's not an 'alien', and no one calls her an alien, then she doesn't get to choose either.

But even so, I wouldn't use that word around her, or to her. That's no skin off my back, who cares?

That's not a common feeling tho, and I bet it isn't even really true for her. I bet she has another agenda.

But tell me, what's the big deal? If someone is truly offended by the word 'ball', then I won't use it round them. No skin off my back.

Don't know, or care, about the dictionary definition. The street definition is clear.

If someone calls me or you a 'faggot', we're insulted.

If you're on record as being okay with calling others 'faggot', then so be it. I think it's wrong to call others 'faggot'.

Yes, a preference for reasoned and substantial argument over emotional ad hominum attacks is one of the main things distinguishing conservatives from liberals.(Just go on rabble for five minutes to verify that).Ann Coulter has a perfect right to say what she thinks, I just wish she ends up saying it from obscurity.

Yes, I find that too, liberals being decent and gentle people, I have many of them as my friends..( we mostly just don't talk politics). The problem I see is that most of them prefer to feel and wish rather than think in matters where thinking is called for. Plus a liberal viewpoint seems to operate like a union ticket for admission to several vocations.</p>

The problem is that Ann has more virtue than most any of the wooses in the republican party and their pundits. Medved is about strategy, Ann is about principle. The GOP is pragmatically about winning elections; Ann is about fighting to the death for conservativism.

Adding to the party is a fast road to liberalism (the enemy of liberty) if it dilutes the principle. Elect a liberal from the GOP and you get far more liberal governing than you would if a liberal Dem were elected. The worst thing for this country is for the GOP to loose its conservative Christian philosophy and elect RINO liberals. At least as an opposition party liberalism can be frustrated, but as the band leaders of just a little less liberalism the country will always get far more.

Ann keep fighting - let the delicate in the movement who have no stomach for the war go home. This is for the survival of the republic. Too bad so many here at free republic fear offending the enemy enough to defeat them.

Using offensive slur words is not a virtue. Respect for others is.

Hurl invectives?

Hold up a sign saying "homosexuality is wrong" around a "gay rights" function.

You don't know what hurled invectives ARE!

How does it preserve the republic or civilization to cosset a segment of the population that acts like islamists when they are criticized?

Michael Medved thinks we come on too strong. I'm afraid we can't avoid offending liberals unless we agree to become them.

It's not liberals you're offending...It's responsible, mature, adult conservatives.

What you've expressed here isn't conservative...It's intemperate, it's extreme in tone, it's tone deaf, it's narcissistic, it's boorish, and it borders on paranoid personality disorder. Since when has acting like a bunch of spoiled 12 year olds been considered a cherished charactistic of conservatism?

First of all, Edwards isn't a homosexual, which was the point of Coulter's jab. So, yes, it was tacky, rude, and senseless.
