The State Department would come out with this idiotic statement, just like when it advised the Ukrainians to continue submitting to Soviet rule. The people of Taiwan do NOT want to be gang-pressed as slaves into the Chinese Communist police state. If they want independence, its their right, just as it was our right in 1776 to see the backside of an oppressive Mother Country.
