No, I'm a conservative, as opposed to a GOP cheerleader. Conservatives believe that lying to a GJ is a crime. You apparently believe it is a crime unless a GOP official does it.

Libby told the GJ that he forgot ten conversations with nine people about a topic he was tasked with dealing with in his very important job, and that having a reporter allegedly bring up the same topic did nothing to refresh his memory and he was hearing it 'as if for the first time.' If you believe that, then you believe that Lewis Libby is an idiot.

The prosecution certainly did not make a credible case on the Russert or Cooper charges. Upon reading the testimony, there is no doubt in my mind that russert is a perjurer.

I presume you'll understand if I don't believe you.

Well said. I don't think justice was perverted today. While not every government official gets fired and thrown in jail for false statements under oath (*cough Clinton cough*) at least one has today. He was judged according to a jury of his peers. I trust the system. I find it highly unlikely that his high priced lawyers would have lost the case if he was actually innocent.

The idiocy of this "crime" is that there was no crime to start with.

What we have here is a faux investigation until someone possibly fell foul of bad laws or laws used not for their intended purpose.

I think people have conflated the Plame aspect (not undercover, not outed, not a crime) with the witch hunt that Libby was caught in. He clearly lied, but not to cover any crime because there was no original crime to lie about or cover up.

Can you remember 10 conversations with 9 people that you had years ago? Perhaps, but then again, perhaps you don't have as many conversations with as many different people as Libby has had.

We tend to make fun of politicians who simply say "I don't recall" when asked a question. Turns out, that is the safest thing to say. If you happen to misspeak, you get hung out to dry.
