COMMENTS: The way Rudy's campaign crew handled the controversy is an even scarier glimpse into Mayor Rudeo's underhanded campaign tactics.

Rudeo's family problems broke while visiting Arnie Schwarzenegger.

As Rudy nervously explained his relationship with Andrew to a full court press...... the TV report noted Rudy's campaign aide was sitting with the press corps apparently "posing" as a reporter.

As Rudy finished his shaky answer, his aide then stopped all discussion by throwing Rudy a question on another subject.......as if she was a disinterested reporter.

How'd you like to have this devious crew running your government?

FYI: The news report ended with a poll showing 88% of those polled had a problem with a father not attending his son's graduation.

He should have just said no comment.

Rudy weakness will be family values and national security (for example the Kerik fiasco and his support of illegals).

I can just see Hillary setting herself up as the protected of family values, with tears in her eyes saying how she stood by her husband.

I'm no Rudyfan but I couldn't care less. Frankly I want to hear the candidates talk about the issues. This isn't American idol.

The fact that the kid didn't want his father to attend his graduation has absolutely NO influence whatsoever on my support. Ask the other FReepers who support Rudy, and I have a hunch they will tell you the same thing.

Sad that Rudy didn't have time to spend with his two kids but he had time to go to every fireman's and policeman's funereal after 9/11. It says a lot about a person who seemingly cares for people he doesn't know but doesn't show the same care to his own kids. I understand that families have problems and all that, to me that isn't the issue, the issue is Rudy's priorities. If his family, especially his kids, are not a priority, then his priorities are pretty screwed up if you ask me.

Jeez, even without the kids being angry with him Rudy's personal life is a train wreck. I don't dislike Rudy but I don't understand his appeal as far as Presidential material goes. Other than seeing him in the aftermath of 9/11, most people don't know his stance on most issues.

We've allowed the democrats to define the gop platform to the point where if Jesus was running for office would we question the virgin birth.

The bottom line is that individuals with sufficient drive to run for president or mayor of a city very rarely have time or energy remaining to look after their personal lives. And then you wonder why our government is full of scoundrels and criminals. The only ones who qualify to run are the ones that sufficiently supress the problems they have in their own lives. The ones who successfully run for office are the ones who lie the best.

We need to be smarter than this.

I went through a nasty divorce with my EX.
There was no other woman, but once I did find my wonderful Wife, my Daughter (then age 18) could not get over my remarriage, and was very rude and unkind to my Wife. I tried to get them to work it out, and the problem is less apparent today, but still lingers. My Son on the other hand loves my Wife and enjoys her company. Divorce and kids is never easy.

We have been fortunate, for the last six years, to have had a President with a fine family. That is important. To realize how it makes a difference, contrast it with eight years of Clinton drama.

And, to those who bring up the Reagans; Yes, they had a daughter who was a little bit of a problem child. I didn't really like that, either. But President and Mrs. Reagan had been happily married for twenty-eight years on election day in 1980. Mrs. Reagan was an outstanding first lady.

Rudy, on the other hand, has been married to his third wife, Judith Nathan, since 2003. Nathan carried on an affair with Giuliani for several years before his marriage to Donna Hanover ended. While some might disagree with me that a first lady should not be the type of woman who would carry on with another woman's husband, there is no doubt that Giuliani's family life is a problem.

Were he to be elected President, the country would get a steady dose of his family drama, which we honestly do not need in the White House.

Gee, I have a good Christian friend who lost his wife after a lengthy battle with cancer. After a few years of mourning (all the while focusing on the wellbeing of his two early-teens children), he felt ready for a relationship with another Christian woman, and it blossomed.

Happiness again? Nope. One of the kids went totally out of character and made his life a living hell during the year of that relationship. It was made clear that Dad was not to have any new spouse or girlfriend in place of Mom. It was so bad that he in fact gave up the relationship.

The point is that teen or even post-teen children have powerful emotions about marital disruptions that are unlikely to provide any useful information about the "goodness" or "badness" of the parents.

I'll go further: to use teen (teen children!) assessments of a marriage as definitive or even accurate is foolish and shows a complete lack of adult wisdom.

Not that one expects wisdom from the New York Post.

Rudy should have said "no comment" - NOW the headlines appear to imply he choses his new wife over his son.....it is a no-win situation to comment.....

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR, NEW YORK POST, March 6, 2007

THE ISSUE: Whether photos of Giuliani's good-humored cross-dressing will mar his bid for prez.

It's sad that some people have to deeply analyze the fact that Rudy Giuliani dressed in a gown once at some benefit dinner ("Rudy Dragged Down," March 3). If this is the only thing that is stopping some so-called conservatives from joining the Giuliani for president team, then these people have some psychological problems that need to be addressed. I was there the night Giuliani dressed in a gown, and I can assure you that even though he did it for a charitable purpose, he was not too comfortable doing so. To all of you who think that this is a serious issue for a presidential contender: Get a life!
-- Joe De Fronzo Albany

****

This picture was taken a number of years ago at the Inner Circle show at the Hilton, an amusing song-and-dance spoof of the mayor and other well-known politicians that is put on each spring. Immediately after our show, whoever is mayor that year puts on his own humorous rebuttal to our jokes. The proceeds from the evening are donated to 20 charities. Giuliani's performance was extremely amusing, and the 2,000 members of the audience thoroughly enjoyed his humor and his ability to laugh at himself. With your headline, and no mention in the article of when or where that photograph was taken, the reader might easily assume that this outfit is a permanent part of our former mayor's wardrobe, which it certainly is not. With what is going on in the world today, it's refreshing to have someone with a sense of humor who can occasionally make us laugh instead of cry.
-- Kristi Witker Manhattan

With claims of Giuliani in drag and Sen. Barack Obama's kin once owning slaves, it looks like The Post's editors are on Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign staff.

-- Ray Graziano Hawthorne, N.J.

COMMENT: The New York Post did not endorse both Sens. Schumer and Clinton (and Gov. Spitzer) because they wanted to see these pols fail. Now, tghe Post is looking for those who think Rudy's display of a sense of humor at a fundraiser outweighs a candidate's proven leadership, integrity and effectiveness as a crime-fighter and as a mayor of an "ungovernable" city with tough and consistent support of the president's War on Terror. The Hillary Camp and the Post will try to exploit this frivolous "wedge" issue to the Hilt, that is, to a Hillary Triumph in 2008. Useful Idiots are wanted for their campaign. Surely, there are more critical campaign issues.

My dad used to bring a magazine to read. We didn't have a party either. Looking back, I think that was pretty cool 8-)

Well, most of the time I don't like Rudy, but if he's planning that well and has that good of a staff, maybe he WOULD make a good President...
