This isn't the first time--there are three cases of nasal cells used in the UK which have helped produce movement in people with paralysis. This information was published in the Weekly Standard, and quickly died as no one else in the press picked up on it.

Soon there will be idiots here denouncing stems cells as killing babies! If this was talking about the use of embryonic stem cells, I would be one of those so-called idiots. I imagine that Coleus would be one of those so-called idiots, as well.
But they haven't figured out how to get any sort of positive result from embryonic stem cells. Nor is it likely that they ever will...
Adult stem cells...like what were used in this article...have been repeatedly proven to be invaluable.

I wouldn't be too quick to call this a legitimate news story,....

Sad to say, that was my first response, as well, as some very peculiar "true" stories appear in Indian news media.

I think that should drive a stake through the heart of fetal stem cell research.
It should, but it won't. Nothing will deter the left from pursuing the wholesale mass murder of innocent babies. That's the basis behind the left's desire for fetal stem cell research; not health, not medical breakthroughs, just the death of the most innocent.

...liberal Doc I work with and argue about source of stem cells....
**
I have a niece whose baby was born with severe congenital brain damage. During the 2004 elections, I was driven to a state of fury to learn that a doctor told the baby's father to get everyone he knew to vote for Kerry because Bush was against stem cell research, the best hope for a cure for their daughter.
I learned about this lie when the niece sent an e-mail to everyone about. It took me a long time to write a response to her because I wanted to be gentle with her. (Yes, she is a liberal, but, as a mother, I know that I would be tempted to grasp at any straw to help my child.)
I was infuriated by the vicious lie told by a doctor, a trained scientist who should be able to separate fact from fiction better than the average brain dead liberal. I was even more incensed by the cruelty of his lie. It is not an exaggeration to say that I was sorely tempted to learn his identity so that I could berate him in the most scathing terms.

It's a crying shame when people can't read, isn't it?

Done with stem cells from his own body.<<< Christopher Reeves, Superman, hero of the embyronic fetal stem cell advocates, may have benefited from his own stem cells long before any other treatment....if he'd been able to hang on just another year or two.

So I guess that makes the score approximately Adult Stem Cell successes 70+......Embryonic Stem Cell successes 0 !
Doesn't it boggle one's mind when the results above are achieved considering there is an enormous disparity in the amount of taxpayer funding devoted to Adult Stem Cell research versus a procedure that destroys a human being !
It would almost make a person question that the focus of the research is agenda rather than success driven /sar/.
