I hope it doesn't happen, but if there are health issue and Cheney should resign, were I in the Dem leadership I'd trumpet their overwhelming victory in the midterms, the rejection of GWB and the war, and demand a Democrat in the name of bipartisanship and to fulfill the will of the people. Might settle for a Tommy Thompson or someone like that.

And if you remember the election threads, there's no difference between Dems and Reps in Congress. There should be no complaints from many here when GWB signs Teddy Kennedy's immigration bill. Which will no be able to pass the House.

I thought this was the official site for the best "24" thread on the Net.

Honestly, I don't watch 24.

If Cheney resigns, Nancy Pelosi is a heartbeat away from the Presidency. Do you really think a Democratic Congress is going to confirm a viable political candidate for VP?
***Actually, no I don't. I would expect more backlash than what occurred with Harriet Miers. Did you know who Harriet Miers was before GWB nominated her? Most people don't, but now due to the exposure (note she DIDN'T win) most people do know who she is. Same thing would happen to Hunter/whoever.

The more the demos would drag their feet on a replacement, the worse they look, and the more we get to hammer away at them for their political move and the american public would remember it. To be safe, if I were GWB, I'd ask Cheney to resign only after his replacement is ratified. I don't know if that's constitutional...

If anyone does accept the job (assuming the offer is made from the Hunter campaign), they need to be forthcoming about their links to the DH campaign.

Absolutely. Stealth operatives suck.

agreed, and so does the Hunter campaign, IF they go for this idea.

It's not. Until there's a vacancy, nothing happens. I hope there's no reason for Cheney to leave for health reasons, but I'd speculate that if he does, we'll have no VP till 2009.

A campaign with integrity... imagine that.

I think a liason between FR and Hunter's people would definitely be a good thing. Keep us posted.

It very plainly states it's a forum dedicated to the advancement of conservatism and is also not affiliated with any political party.
