Suddenly cool Al Gore looks like a good choice

Al Gore could become the only man to win an Oscar, a Nobel Prize and his party's presidential nomination within a span of 12 months.

He already has collected an Oscar for his global-warming documentary ``An Inconvenient Truth.'' (Actually, that's two Oscars, if you count best song.) He's been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by an admiring Norwegian lawmaker. But to have a shot at the trifecta -- California's presidential primary will be 11 months from tomorrow -- Gore will have to declare himself a candidate for president.

We hope he goes for it.

Nope.

It'll be Obama/Gore or Gore/Obama, with MRS BILL CLINTON consigned to the ashheap of primary history.

Gore is the anti-Hillary. That's why he's likely to be the candidate.

Gore/Obama or Obama/Gore will knock MRS BILL CLINTON on her backside.

I could definitely see Al Gore going for VP again, if he ran with Obama.

First, he might calculate that's the best way to win.

Second, they would present it as though they were "co-Presidents"---hey, it worked for the Toons. They'd say they have Obama "fresh, young, new-to-Washington perspective" and Gore's experience in the White House, blah blah blah.

Third, if it takes being VP again to finally strike a personal blow against the Toons (and you gotta believe Algore harbors some mighty fine resentment against those two for Bubba's ridiculous conduct which, um, *complicated* Al's best chance at winning the presidency in 2000), he might just do it.

Fourth, Al Gore can claim that one of his most cherished causes in global warming and that, in the role of VP, he would have more flexability to continue his "important" work in that area, all the while President Obama could benefit from his "experience."

A VP spot behind Gore might be a coveted position for one of the candidates. He does not look healthy. There's something about the way that he ballooned up which has now given him a bloated look. It looks like he's in line for a heart attack or severely high blood pressure issues. It could just be so many of the great pics here, but he doesn't look like he would last through a full campaign starting this far out, or if he did, you'd better pay attention to who's in the line of succession if he wins.
