As I said before, Rudy as mayor with a city out of control with crime is one thing. As president, he would have to have all of that legislated first, which, even if Congress remains in the hands of the Democrats would be next to impossible (excluding the assault weapons ban). If Rudy is nominated and elected, turning the Country against him that quickly would not be part of his agenda. Now, if he comes out and clarifies that as you laid it out during the debate, good. That would definitely turn the tide against him.

Most people don't really care about his abortion or gay rights stands, but a comprehensive federal gun control program would not sit well, and I suspect he's not that stupid.

BTW, it would still be interesting to see the viewpoints of all the other candidates.

I suggest you do some reading up on what the BATF has been able to do just be internal rulings - gun parts banned from importation, guns banned by reclassification - etc - all without legislative input. These things have happened under the bush administration. Under one run by rudy, it would be much worse.
