When one is educated with values, they can find better ways to say things. Fools and those without imagination use profanity.

While I absolutely agree that one should always make one's point as articulately as possible, there are times when a well-coined, emphatic expletive is really the only recourse.
"Indiscriminate use of profanity is the linguistic crutch of an inarticulate Mother****er"!

I think its just that most conservatives want to respect the people on this board who may find bad language offensive. I do not mind foul language but is certainly polite not to use it in company.

Actually, this liberal potty-mouth orientation is another relic from their 60s hey-days.
Don't you remember how they accused bourgois society (ie. mommy and daddy) of oppression and recommended using the f-word in front of old ladies to liberate oneself?
It's a childish rant that they've never given up.

I never cared much for foul mouthed people - I'm not profane at all, save for the judicious use of a few PG-13 level words.
Most of the foul mouthed folks I know are liberal, though I don't know if there is a legitimate connection there.
I will say that it's very well known among the folks I know that I don't use profanity (most have never heard me utter even an R-Rated word). I do notice that when I am around, they do make an effort to clean up their language a bit, which I appreciate. I consider the power or setting a strong example.

When one is educated with values, they can find better ways to say things. Fools and those without imagination use profanity.A common myth and misconception.
An occasional well-chosen word can be devastatingly effective in an otherwise erudite vocabulary. Even the most literate giants of literature feel at home with the concept.
Best illustrated by way of example.
