Democratic Party boss Howard Dean demanded that Republican presidential candidates denounce conservative columnist Ann Coulter after she referred to Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards as a ‘faggot’ during a speech Friday at a national conservative gathering.

she can go on any TV show who will have her and say what she wants. the point here is, this was supposed to be a conference about conservative politics, and the 2008 election and candidates. not a forum for Coulter to sell her next book and generate some buzz for herself by making this remark. this isn't a free speech issue, she has free speech, let her use it someplace else.

....how old are you?....I don't care about P.C. all that much....I care about how it reflects on the conservatives she hangs around....I know many people on FR hate it when Bush is called a murderer or whatever, and they get all bent out of shape....well, guess what, now her comments will be picked up by the MSM and now we will run around defending it...like I said to you before, if any pundit agrees with her and also calls Edwards a "faggot", then I'll stand corrected......just cause liberals do it does not mean I don't hold myself to a higher standard...but I guess many in this world just except this crap because they were raised to just throw out insults, invective etc when they feel pressured......I understand the dilemma

If Edwards was gay I MIGHT agree with you. Otherwise it's an unjustified slur and she is a strumpet for saying it.

I have only read a brief quote from Ann's speech regarding this. It seemed to me that she was needling Edwards' employed bloggers who were making use of the word, "faggot" often in a campaign blog. Thus the comment that she could not comment on Edwards without using the word.

It seemed to me that Ann put that one out there to get this episode of hypocrisy some press as it was generally ignored. My guess anyways.

I didn't call Edwards a fagot...I called him a nancy boy. Ann Coulter didn't call Edwards a fagot either. This is what she said:

"I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word 'faggot,' so I - so kind of an impasse, can't really talk about Edwards."

yes, we get it. the remark clearly indicates that she wanted to use the term to describe Edwards, but played off it by saying "but if I did, I would have to go into rehab".

instead of making an intelligent, salient comment about for example, his misuse of the malpractice system as a lawyer.

.....my last post to you.....read all the posts on here and the earlier post on FR....at least half the posters think the remark was ludicrous and stupid...I'm not speaking for anyone...it is my opinion, but there are others that feel the same way....and not sure if you are learned enough to actually read other conservative blogs and forums, but many there thought it was stupid too....honestly, I don't drag myself down in the mud with the liberals....but hey, if you want to, I'm not going to stop you.....by the way, I hope you are comprehending my meaning....there are many people that feel the same.......I"M NOT speaking for them....they do quite nicely by themselves

Ann Coulter was referring to the guy on that show who was forced into rehab for allegedly saying, "faggot", and then using the word in his denial. That is an affront to free speech, people! Free speech means having the right to offend, disagree, and hate.
