Whether a Fred Thompson candidacy comes to pass or not, this thread is proof of the incredible political weakness of Giuliani, Romney and McCain.
I would like to point out the obvious, which is that it is becoming clear to thinking Republicans that picking an out-and-out liberal like one of those three is the short road to electoral disaster.
Hence, trial balloons like this one.
And it's happening because of the principled example of conservative opinion leaders like yourself. Thank you for that.
Hopefully, that is exactly the kind of leadership from across grassroots America that will continue to be shown in the days and months ahead. If it is, who knows, the GOP just might get all the way back to what made it great yet.
