B/S what?
You are now claiming that all these people who have been here all these years fighting for conservative goals have now switched over?
Is that what you're saying?
These same people were fighting for liberal Arnold Schwartzenkennedy over conservative McClintock in the CA election years ago. Some of these neocons have been hiding behind their support for the war, the troops, and President Bush for years deceiving people into believing that they were actually conservatives.
Conservative don't just support the WoT, the troops, and America in general. They also support the protection and sanctity of human life, the preservation of the traditions that established our great Republic, the perpetuation of the establishment of traditional marriage and family - the fundamental unit of our free and prosperous society. They support the right to keep and bare arms as protected by the Second Amendment. Etcetera. The people who support or who have sold out to Giuliani can hardly call themselves conservative anymore. Supporting liberalism is a betrayal of conservatism. Additionally, simply the absence of support for liberalism does not make one a conservative either.
B/S on all accouns. Rudy has changed his opinion on nothing. He still supports abortion rights, gay rights, gun control, illegal immigration, McCaine-Feingold, global warming, etc. And a whole lot of FReepers and Republicans are arguing FOR his socialist positions.
I've read it many times on these threads:
abortion is a woman's right
abortion is not an important issue
the president has no say in abortion
abortion doesn't matter
we should not be arguing against gay rights
we have no business in gay's bedrooms (God forbid)
gay unions are perfectly fine
teaching our children about homosexualism is good
reasonable gun ontrol is ok
keeping guns out of the hands of criminals (by infringing on our rights) is a good thing
Compromise is the ONLY answer because there are not enough of us to win an election.
Keep saying there are and you'll be in the minority forever.
And where will your principles get you then?
etc, etc, etc.
FReepers are indeed arguing for the liberal positions and against conservatism.
An early signup date is no indication that a person has been here for years fighting for conservative goals. I have an early signup date on my account at DU, but that is no indication that I've been on that website for years fighting for liberal goals.
I don't think Jim should stand up for anyone who is trying to divide this forum and put down conservative values no matter what there sign-up date happens to be or how well they have toed the line in the past.
