(Isn't it peculiar that matter what the problem, the government's solution is always "more taxes".)

sinkholes form when there is moving water under the surface. It wears and carries away the limestone or whatever is there, leaving a big pocket just waiting to collapse in on itself.

What other areas of the Guatemala have "nothing under them" and could sink in the future?
