Yeah I can't work up much bile for the Global Warming true believers. They honestly feel they need to help humanity. As opposed to the pro-abortion crowd who are actively malignant.

She was indeed. This was about the least self indulgent Oscar night that I can remember. Nobody took themselves too seriously.

Thanks for the many photo contributions daisy. I was posting from the floor. Brought my mouse & keyboard down & really couldn't see the monitor too well...

They drag every year but I appreciate the creativity to make them different & fresh

Seeing the video each year of the ones who died in the past year is always sad.

I liked the dancers doing the logo for each film.(wonder if they were really naked)

I agree, Helen Merren's speech was the best.

I was extremely disappointed in Forrest Whittacker's speech but I guess he was very nervous and excited. I am thrilled for him...though I am so sorry that Peter O'Toole was nominated 8 times in his life and never won.

Yes, that is how I look at it and I am sure since they DO really believe in the wrong info they look at the Pubbies as insensitive & self centered.

Education... but one must be willing to be educated & trust those trying to educate & they again look at Pubs as agenda driven with stilted facts.

The announcer said Forrest Whittacker got his start as an opera singer but I had never heard that....his first movie role was in Fast Times at Ridgemont High...remember that one with Sean Penn?...he played the high school football player.

Yeah, she thanked her/his wife and when she first got up she kissed her/him on the lips. I just thought this in my mind was funny.........

Actually she and her lover made it very clear their chosen gender roles for our benefit: she with tuxedo jacket and wife with cleavage.

Celine's song was Morricone's from "Once Upon A Time in America", a great, great, movie.

One of the best--and most overlooked and forgotten--films of all time.

It's highly regarded by buffs and is highly rated on IMDB. I wouldn't say it's forgotten. Certainly one of the best films of the 1980s. The only Gangster film I can think of that can be called Proustian.

Am I the only one here who doesn't care for Jack Nicholson? He isn't anything compared to the greats of Hollywood's Golden Age. In fact, he is symptomatic of the sad state of Hollywood right now.

Note to self: Move Sir Peter O'Toole to top of death pool tomorrow.

Hard to believe he is only 74. Looks more like 88.

You would think they would have given Peter O'Toole a lifetime achievement award.
They man is definitely a talent that has contributed much to their industry. ... As has George Lucas I might also add. I don't like his politics, but I love his work.

He doesn't really try anymore. He was great in the 70s. Ever see Carnal Knowledge?
