Better remembered as a NBA Champion Seattle Supersonic...R.I.P #24.

Agreed! I stayed up late for every game, (It was late back then...)That was an exciting series against the Bullets.

Back when I couldn't wait for the NBA playoffs to begin.

During that time, even the regular season was awesome.
Bird, Magic, Sir Charles, Ewing, I. Thomas, Hakeem the Dream w/ Sampson, Drexler, etc..
There wasn't a week that went by that there wasn't an awesome matchup happening somewhere.

It was a great time to be a hoop fan.

DJ's gone? Damn! In the 80's,opponents of the Celts would wet their pants when they'd see DJ,Bird,McHale and The Chief take the floor.

AIDS?

You should be ashamed of yourself!! I am breaking all FR rules...people like you who post on a genuinely grieving FR thread are scum.

I hope that Johnny Most was the first to greet DJ when he passed through the Pearly Gates.

People with AIDS get diseases like Pneumonia and Cancer and generally fade away in bed. They don't just pass out out of nowhere.

I knew DJ when he played for the Sonics. Real great guy and a dynamite player.

Yes, one of great shots of all time.

Unfortunately (for Celtic fans) it was in the 1987 eastern conference finals so it was merely the precursor to the Green losing to the Lakers in the finals 4 to 2.

Today's NBA is hard to stomach.

It has degenerated into something I'm ashamed to watch, except for Phoenix and Shaq/Wade in Miami. DJ was a class act, like many of that era.

Yep, they lost me about 10 years ago.

Same here. I feel like a great game has been taken away from us. DJ was a total pro -- cool under fire, consummate team player when it was still a team game. Bird often said he was the finest he played with. RIP, Dennis Johnson. So sad to have to type that.
