but the salespeople are irresistable

I went grocery-shopping last weekend, and there were about ten "irresistable salespeople" purposely blocking people's access to the store. They'd jump right in front of carts with a box in each hand, shrieking "WOULD YOU LIKE TO BUY SOME GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!!"

The loud aggressive little shit who blocked my progress had to be told No twice (the second time not so nicely) before she stepped out of my way. Then one of the two adult women minding the girls bellowed out "HOW ABOUT A DONATION, THEN?"

It was like running an obstacle course, to get around the scouts and the carts ahead of me that they'd halted in the same way.

If it had been my store to manage, the lot of them would have had their fat rude selfish butts booted out to the icy parking lot, starting with the grownups.

Have cookie, a glass of milk and relax.

Girl Scout rules specifically prohibit that sort of behavior. The girls are not allowed to get in your face and not allowed to ask for donations. And the adults with them should know better.

The Troop leader of that GS troop should be reported. What you are saying is absolutely unacceptable behavior.

We did a "cookie booth" in front of the local supermarket this past Saturday, and those girls knew better than to do anything like you describe. Our girls did ask the question, but never stepped in front of a cart, nor did they get more than a foot away from the table.

I'm serious, my friend, if you can remember the Troop number, call the Council and report it (if you can't ask the store manager, he/she will have the information because someone from the council made the arrangements)

You do, in fact, manage the grocery store, and had I been accosted by obnoxious adults and children, I would have gone to see the Manager of the chain and reminded him/her of his/her duties to his/her customers. No one has the right to demand anything. I'm just saying that our experience was in the "traditional" sense of the endeavor to raise troop monies. I and my husband are suckers for well-behaved, attractive children, supervised by equally attractive, respectful adults selling "Thin Mints" or Innsbrook wrapping papers, etc. The big baby of the household has a weakness for "Thin Mints" and finds blonde, blue-eyed angelic faces irresistable (or so he told me when we were dating).

I'm sorry for the abuse you suffered at the hands of the cookie monsters and feel your pain. Note to yourself: AVOID grocery store in future during spring/fall, depending on your area's scouting cookie sales. Otherwise, complain to the manager about the infidels accosting you in the aisles.
